WWE News: Vince McMahon Ally Ebersol Slated To Return to His Rightful Home
As I reported several months ago, NBC announced that Dick Ebersol was stepping down from his position as head honcho of NBC Sports.
This news sent shockwaves through the sports and TV world. However, it also affected the wrestling world, as Ebersol played a huge part in the creation of Saturday Night's Main Event along with co-founding the ill-fated XFL.
He also helped McMahon upgrade the then-WWF's TV production.

Now, The New York Times is reporting that Ebersol is returning to NBC Sports as a senior adviser. He is being brought back primarily to help production of Sunday Night Football, whose season opener launches Sunday Sept. 11. Ebersol will also have his hand involved in the 2012 Olympic coverage on NBC.
The Olympic role is no surprise, as Ebersol has been very hands-on with NBC's production of the Olympics for years.
Now, how his return will effect the WWE is anyone's guess. Luckily, his initial departure did not change WWE's relationship with NBCUniversal.
As you know, NBC was the home of Saturday Night's Main Event and has hosted WrestleMania recap shows for the past three years. WWE also broadcasts three different shows on three NBCUniversal properties.
One thing is for sure: Vince McMahon is probably glad to see his old friend back in the saddle again.
