Kobe Bryant Video: Watch Bryant Drill Drew League Game Winner over James Harden
Kobe Bryant finds solace on the basketball court. So it should come as no surprise that after Bryant found himself embroiled in a bit of controversy following an incident at church on Sunday, he decided to make his first Drew League appearance on Tuesday.
Kobe's appearance in the Drew League game was not announced, but once he showed up, the news spread like internet wildfire.
Drew League commissioner Dino Smiley was quoted on ESPN:
"That's when the line went about 75 yards out the door. We had to have a sheriff at the door to keep crowd control. We knew it was going to be an unusual amount of people there."
Kobe Bryant did not disappoint the adoring fans. He dropped in 43 points, and he saved the best two for last. With the game tied, Kobe held the ball, with the excited crowd chanting his name, until the closing seconds.
He then gave Harden a little crossover, step-back and POW, game winner—signed, sealed and delivered Kobe style.
The fans loved it. They stormed the court to give Kobe a little love for letting them witness the Black Mamba in action. Dino Smiley had never seen anything quite like it. Smiley, from the above linked article:
""We've had guys hit game-winners where their teammates run on the floor. Some of their friends may run on the floor," he said. "But that right there was mind boggling. That trumped everything."
"
Just as exciting to Kobe Bryant fans is the fact that he looked smooth and fluid on the court. He is coming off a platelet-rich plasma therapy procedure on his troublesome right knee.
As for his incident in church, in case you missed it, here is the report per the LA Times:
"San Diego police are investigating an allegation that Lakers star Kobe Bryant was involved in altercation with a man at local church, according to a news report by KCBS-TV Channel.
The incident occurred Sunday at St. Therese of Carmel Church in Carmel Valley, when Bryant allegedly grabbed a cellphone from the man who sustained an injury to his wrist, according to the report.
"
The L.A. Times went onto say that Kobe Bryant returned the cell phone after seeing no pictures and the man went to the hospital with a minor wrist sprain.
