Los Angeles Lakers: A Glorified Dynasty with One Thing in Mind: Winning

Alex PetrosJun 7, 2018

If you are a Lakers fan and live in the city of Los Angeles, you know how the entire city felt watching Phil Jackson walk off the sidelines for the final time after getting swept by the Dallas Mavericks and ending their three-peat dreams.

A few days after, the news broke out that the Lakers need to get rid of their star players except for Kobe Bryant, and get new stars. Fingers started to point in the direction of Pau Gasol for disappearing, Ron Artest for not scoring, and Andrew Bynum for his selfish antics on offense and opening his mouth, saying they don't trust each other. Later, ESPN reported that Mike Brown was going to become the new coach for the Lakers and all hell broke loose.

We didn't get a loyal Laker like Byron Scott, not a proven coach like Rick Adelman, Jerry Sloan or Jeff Van Gundy. The Lakers went and got a guy who knows zero offense and is known for disappearing in big games as a coach.

Rather than pointing the finger at the Lakers' players, we must point the finger at one man and one man only: Jim Buss.

Alright, you had issues with Phil Jackson, so be it, you got nowhere once Phil left the first time. Get a coach without talking to your best player, Kobe Bryant? You must be kidding me. Then Buss puts the "untradeable" title on Bynum, thinking he might be the next Shaq even though Bynum practically has no knees. The players you should worry about keeping are Bryant, Gasol, Odom, and a defensive-minded Ron Artest. Not some washed up, immature 23-year-old who thinks he has the right to demand the ball without having proven anything other than that he gets injured every season.

Bynum for Dwight Howard, man does that sound like one hell of a deal. Imagine seeing Howard in Lakers gold wearing No. 12 and receiving lobs from Bryant night in and night out. Imagine seeing Derek Fisher, Bryant, Artest, Gasol, and Howard as your starting five when the Lakers take the floor.

Can you say goodbye 72-10 Jordan and your Bulls? Let's all get one thing straight: Andrew Bynum will never be the next Shaq. He will he ever come close to being like Shaq. He will never be one of the top-10 all-time centers.

Buss, please don't be naive and make us want to hate you for the rest of your life. Stop destroying a franchise I've grown up watching since I was a little kid.

The Lakers right now are Kobe's team and it will be Kobe's team until the day he retires and his jersey goes up into the rafters. The Lakers organization has never been a team of has-beens like Bynum.

Bring in Howard, so when Kobe's done with his career Howard can take control the way Shaq did back in his glorious Laker days. You want to win? Start by acquiring a piece we all know will help the Lakers accomplish their ultimate goal of bringing back the Larry O'brien trophy to where it belongs.
