2011 NFL Predictions: 25 Players with the Most To Prove Right Now

Tony SantorsaJun 7, 2018

Can you actually believe it? After a four-month-long locked-out offseason, the 2011 NFL season is just a few weeks away.

As we sit in the midst of training camp, most free-agent players are joining their teams, and some are still searching for a job.

Entering the 2011 season, here are 25 players that have a lot to prove.

Tarvaris Jackson

1 of 25

With the recent news that Tarvaris Jackson is going to be the starting quarterback in the Emerald City, he is going to have to prove a lot.

Jackson is going to have a lot of doubters, especially with his career 76.6 passer rating and 58.7 completion percentage.

Albert Haynesworth

2 of 25

There are so many question marks revolving around Albert Haynesworth.

Haynesworth has been in legal trouble and been a disruption in the locker room, and many question his interest and dedication to football.

He now has a new home as a New England Patriot and has a shot at proving all his doubters wrong.

Michael Vick

3 of 25

Believe it or not, Michael Vick has a lot to prove in 2011.

Vick had a stellar season last year as Philadelphia's starting quarterback but failed miserably in the playoffs against the Green Bay Packers.

Historically, Vick hasn't fared too well in the postseason, and with the talent on the Eagles roster, it's Super Bowl or bust for Vick and the Eagles.

Tony Romo

4 of 25

As of right now, Tony Romo is nothing but a great regular season quarterback and a big-time playoff loser.

Romo is going to have to take his Dallas Cowboys deep into the playoffs, or Dallas is going to have to start questioning its future at the quarterback position.

Jason Campbell

5 of 25

In my opinion, this very well could be the last straw for Jason Campbell.

If Campbell doesn't succeed in Oakland, then I wouldn't be surprised if his days as a starter are over.

Charles Johnson

6 of 25

Charles Johnson, better known as the 76-million-dollar man, has a lot to prove in 2011.

Johnson had a solid 2010 season, as he racked up 12 sacks, but needs to prove that he is a top of the league pass rusher and that he's worth $76 million.

Plaxico Burress

7 of 25

After serving a 20-month jail sentence, Plaxico Burress is back in the NFL as a member of the New York Jets.

Burress has been removed from the sport for a long time and has to prove that he can compete at a high level.

Eli Manning

8 of 25

Eli Manning's 25 interceptions in 2010 were nothing but awful.

Manning needs to have a solid 2011 season, or he's going to have a lot of question marks regarding his ability to perform as a New York Giant.

Mark Sanchez

9 of 25

Mark Sanchez is the "leader" of the New York Jets football team and needs to lead his team to the Super Bowl, or he's going to have a lot of doubters.

There are already a lot of people doubting Sanchez's ability, myself included.

In my opinion, Sanchez has been holding the Jets back from appearing in the Super Bowl the past two seasons.

Joe Flacco

10 of 25

During his time as Baltimore's starting quarterback, Joe Flacco has been a solid and productive player.

However, Flacco needs to take his team much deeper into the playoffs and ultimately to the Super Bowl.

Chad Ochocinco

11 of 25

By taking a look at Chad Ochocinco's numbers over the past few seasons, you may notice that he's on a bit of a decline.

Ochocinco, who is now 33 years old, is now a member of the New England Patriots and is playing with the league's best quarterback in Tom Brady.

If Ochocinco doesn't excel with Brady in 2011, then his future in the NFL should be questioned.

Reggie Bush

12 of 25

Now a member of the Miami Dolphins, Reggie Bush has been given a second chance at being a team's featured running back.

Bush hasn't played an entire season since his rookie year and hasn't developed into an every-down back. With so much talent, Bush is ultimately a bust at this point of his career.

Kevin Kolb

13 of 25

Kevin Kolb has a lot to prove in Arizona.

Kolb is now expected to be the Cardinals' starting quarterback in 2011 and needs to produce and play at a high level, considering how much Arizona gave up to acquire Kolb from the Eagles.

Donovan McNabb

14 of 25

Donovan McNabb's first and only season with the Washington Redskins was extremely disappointing. McNabb threw 15 interceptions, one more than he did touchdowns, and was simply not himself.

Maybe it's time for McNabb to retire, but he has the chance to resurrect his career as a member of the Minnesota Vikings.

Chad Henne

15 of 25

The clock is ticking for Chad Henne.

Henne needs to emerge as the Miami Dolphins' starting quarterback and put up productive stats.

If not, then his time as a starter is all but over.

LaDainian Tomlinson

16 of 25

LaDainian Tomlinson's first year as a Jet started off so impressive but ended rather poorly.

Tomlinson is certainly getting up there in age and has yet to put up solid numbers in the postseason.

Jay Cutler

17 of 25

Jay Cutler performed pretty well during his first season in Mike Martz's offense, as he tossed 23 touchdowns and was only picked off 16 times.

Cutler needs to put up the same type of numbers that he did the year before rather than resort to his erratic ways from his time in Denver.

Nnamdi Asomugha

18 of 25

There's no doubt in my mind that Nnamdi Asomugha can succeed as a member of the Philadelphia Eagles.

However, there is going to be a lot of pressure on him, as this will be his first year in the very demanding city of Philly.

Shonn Greene

19 of 25

The time is now for Shonn Greene.

If Greene doesn't develop into the running back that he's capable of being in 2011, he's going to hear it from the New York media.

Matt Hasselbeck

20 of 25

Now a member of the Tennessee Titans, Matt Hasselbeck is likely going to be the team's starting quarterback in 2011.

Many believe that Hasselbeck is at the end of his career, but he will do whatever he can to prove those doubters wrong.

Peyton Hillis

21 of 25

Peyton Hillis ran for a stellar total of 1,117 yards in 2010 but needs to prove that he is not a one-year wonder.

Cam Newton

22 of 25

Cam Newton will likely be the starting quarterback for the Carolina Panthers once Week 1 rolls around, and he has a lot to prove.

Newton was the first overall pick in this year's draft and has a lot of hype surrounding him after his stellar play at Auburn.

Da'Quan Bowers

23 of 25

There is one major question mark regarding Da'Quan Bowers—his health.

Bowers needs to prove to everyone that his knee is 100 percent healthy and he's a solid and productive pass rusher.

Matt Schaub

24 of 25

Matt Schaub has put up amazing numbers as the quarterback of the Houston Texans but has yet to make a playoff appearance.

The Texans are in great shape to make a run for the postseason in 2011, and Schaub must lead the way.

Roy Williams

25 of 25

Roy Williams simply did not work out as a Dallas Cowboy.

Now a member of the Chicago Bears, he is going to be expected to be the team's No. 1 wide receiver and has to be productive.
