NBA Trade Speculation: 5 Dream Trade Scenarios for Dwight Howard
Dwight Howard is, as any NBA fan knows, arguably the best center in the NBA right now. To put it lightly, he is a total savage. He dunks, shoots, rebounds, blocks shots and steals passes. Describing him basically sounds like a commercial for a really cool action figure.
Despite Howard's career accolades, he has yet to win an NBA championship with his Orlando Magic. Every player wants this honor during their prime, and Howard is no exception. If it's going to happen for him, some changes have to be made in Orlando, or Howard may have to be living elsewhere next year.
Here are five trade scenarios that would play out well for Howard.
Whether they are all realistic is another story...
5. Traded to the New Jersey Nets and Gets to Team Up with Deron Williams
1 of 5This is one of the more likely trade scenarios if the Orlando Magic do decide to trade Dwight Howard. It doesn't work out bad for Howard either; he would get to play with Deron Williams, one of the best young point guards in the NBA.
It is the lack of point guard that really has hurt the Magic, and Williams would be great at getting Howard the ball for him to make plays but also dispersing it around so that Howard would not be the only offensive target.
The New Jersey Nets would have to pay a hefty but worth-it price; they would certainly give up Brook Lopez, as well as two or three other players.
4. Traded to the Los Angeles Lakers and Gets to Team Up with Kobe Bryant
2 of 5Dwight Howard and Kobe Bryant? Can you say Kobe/Shaq 2.0!
Everyone knows the damage that the Los Angeles Lakers did when they had Shaq as a dominating center, and the Lakers have even had success in the post-Shaq era.
Howard is as good, if not better than Shaq in his prime, and if the Lakers can work out this deal, L.A. could be unstoppable next season.
This trade has some likelihood of happening. The Lakers would most likely send Andrew Bynum and Pau Gasol to Orlando.
3. Traded to the Dallas Mavericks and Gets to Team Up with Dirk Nowitzki
3 of 5Now we are talking about truly "dream" trade scenarios. The New Jersey Nets and the Los Angeles Lakers have viable chances at acquiring Dwight Howard. The Dallas Mavericks, not so much.
The Mavericks are coming off an amazing championship season, but they won this championship with an aging team of players who don't garner much trade value. Forward Dirk Nowitzki, the star of Dallas, is obviously not going anywhere, and Jason Terry and Jason Kidd are too old to trade Howard away for.
It probably won't happen, but wouldn't it be cool to see Dirk and Howard team up?
2. Traded to the Boston Celtics and Get to Team Up with All Their Talent
4 of 5This is really a longshot but fun to think about.
What if the Boston Celtics coughed up Kevin Garnett and some young players or draft picks for Dwight Howard? The Orlando Magic would definitely consider it, as Garnett still has juice left in the tank, and Howard could move to Boston and make them (almost) unbeatable.
Seeing Paul Pierce, Ray Allen, Rajon Rondo, and Howard play together would be legendary. Too bad I don't think we'll ever see it. Only in Howard's best dreams, I suppose.
1. The Orlando Magic Acquire Chris Paul and Howard Stays Put in Florida
5 of 5This is the best-case-scenario, win-win for all parties involved.
Dwight Howard would get to stay in Orlando, a city that he loves and that loves him back very much.
The Orlando Magic would finally have their dominant and electrifying point guard. This would make them very viable contenders for the NBA Championship.
The Magic don't nearly have the necessary goods to sign Chris Paul and keep Dwight Howard, but after all, these are "dream" scenarios!
