Brandan Wright Shows Warriors What He Can Do
It finally happened.
Golden State Warriors Head Coach Don Nelson was sick and tired of the lackadaisical effort of the team. This, in turn, is when the shape of their game against the Denver Nuggets dramatically changed. When Brandan Wright, Kelenna Azubuike, and CJ Watson were inserted into the game.
With their efforts, the Warriors trimmed what was an 18-point Nuggets lead to seven at the end of the first quarter, and eventually to one at halftime.
With Andris Biedrins on the bench due to foul trouble, the three players started the second half. Wright came up with huge rebounds, block shots, hustle plays, and made some key free throws as well.
Even more exciting news for the Warriors is that Marco Belinelli was put in with about three minutes left in the third quarter to spell Stephen Jackson and what seemed like the Warriors' one-point lead was going to vanish. By the time the fourth quarter started, the Warriors' lead was six.
In over 32 minutes, Brandan Wright's final line for the game included 18 points, 13 rebounds, three blocks, and only one turnover.
Kelenna Azubuike's line was 22 points, eight rebounds, four assists, two steals, and one gigantic blocked shot on a dunk attempt.
CJ Waton's line was 14 points, five rebounds, four assists, two steals, and only one turnover.
The most important statistic of the game was the fact that the Warriors' bench outscored the Nuggets' bench, 56-22.
After tonight's game, it will be safe to say that Don Nelson may insert Brandan Wright into the lineup. Al Harrington just looked lost out there.
I know that he wants to be traded; he hasn't played particularly well. It looks like Harrington's relationship with Nelson has just about come to an end.
What Al needs to do is just play his game and stop worrying about when he'll be traded. He definitely will be, he just needs to start playing better. He did do some really solid things tonight that won't go into the box score.
