The second game in tonight’s MAC double-header features a match-up between the Toledo Rockets and the Akron Zips. The Zips sit near the top of the MAC East division at 4-4 while Toledo is resting near the bottom of the MAC West at 2-6. The Rockets are not a high scoring squad, but we are taking the Over 54 in this ESPNU game.
The Akron Zips are averaging 28.1 points per game this season, but in conference play they have upped that to 32.25. They have shown the ability to move the ball both on the ground and through the air and they should be able to get their fair share against the Rockets this evening. Toledo is yielding 31.4 points per game and they allow 173.9 rushing yards per game. Akron has not held a MAC opponent under 27 points all season long and they have allowed an average of 35 points per game to MAC opposition, including 35 to an Eastern Michigan team that is averaging just 20.1 points per game.

The Over is 7-2 the last five years when Akron played as a home team coming off a road win. The Over is 4-1 the last five years when Toledo played as an away team coming off a home loss. The Over is 6-2 the last three years when Toledo played as a +3.5 to +6.5 underdogs.
