"Can I Order a Plate of Reality and a Side Order of 'Are You Crazy'?"

Stephen Jackson admitted that initially he was not happy about the news of being traded to Milwaukee, referring to Milwaukee as a “boring city.” But after warming up to the idea, he started out his press conference as saying all the right things; “the team is a player away…I’m that player”, “you can’t teach leadership, and I’m a leader”, “the other players can benefit from my success in this league.”

Okay, so with the gaudy current contract he has in which he’s receiving $9.5 million for next year and 10 million tickets for the following year, it's obvious he bought a “Quotes for the Press Conference: Being Traded Edition” book.

He has since said that it’s mandatory that the Bucks give him a two-year extension that’ll take him to the age of 37. Mandatory? Let’s see…can he do that? Was he taping his own reality show at the time, because he sure seems out of touch with what’s really going on, like a looming lockout.

He wants a team who already borrowed 55 million dollars from the NBA last year, is in a terribly small market and is trying to build a playoff contender to pay him out the wazoo? Never mind that he is on the downside of his career and his NBA success that he alluded to is directly attributed to the domination of Tim Duncan, Ginobli and Parker during the Spurs championship runs. But he was so vital to that team that once he was gone, the core, which was kept in tact, kept winning championships.

After that, he has been traded to several teams, been suspended for the infamous brawl in Indiana, is always in the Top 10 in the NBA in game ejections and has yet to matter in the playoffs since the days of the Spurs. Hmmm. Can that happen in the real world?

I work for a company, lets say a sales company. I keep going from competitor to competitor every few years to work for them (actually being sent to a company), I’m decent at my job but I show up late for work, I don’t quite make my sales quotas and I don’t really follow all the company rules, so I’m sent home from time to time. Oh yeah, I’m near my retirement, but now I’m screaming that my boss has to give me a raise two years before I retire, all because, “I’m a natural born leader and you can’t teach that” (but I really haven’t lead anyone anywhere.) Hard to fathom, well, considering the source…not really.
