Dallas Mavericks Have Lost All Credibility
Since Mark Cuban has taken over, the Dallas Mavericks organization has been known for their exciting teams. You've seen an owner that's refreshing, an owner who's totally into his team and isn't afraid to do something big to make the team better.
This past summer was one of the biggest for the Mavericks since Cuban arrived. The first move was bringing in Rick Carlisle to replace Avery Johnson. They then had the summer and preseason to get their new acquisition Jason Kidd used to the team, and that helped as well.
Now that's all well and good since they needed a change from Avery Johnson. Even though Johnson has a great winning percentage, the Mavericks needed something different after being bounced out of the playoffs too soon each of the past two years.
Now onto the point of the title of the article—why the Dallas Mavericks have lost all credibility. There's a player on the team that shouldn't be playing. Also, you could put this on David Stern's credibility and the Mavericks for it.
The issue is Josh Howard. He should not have been playing in tonight's game. Heck, he shouldn't be playing the next 19-24 games. No, it's not because of his comments about smoking pot or not liking the national anthem. It's due to his dumb decision to take part in drag racing.
Howard should have been suspended for his part in a drag racing incident that happened in August. Not only was he racing at 94 mph, but he was charged with reckless driving as well. There was absolutely no reason why Josh Howard should've been allowed on the floor tonight.
Thanks to the lack of discipline by the Mavericks organization and the NBA there is no doubt in my mind that the Mavericks have lost all credibility as an organization. Carmelo Anthony was suspended for two games because of a DUI incident. Josh Howard does something more stupid and the Mavericks don't do anything. It's what you call pathetic.
