Minnesota Timberwolves: 5 Reasons They're the New League Pass Must-Watch
Every year, the NBA blogosphere crowns a new NBA League Pass "must-watch" team. This team is usually a team that is down in the standings, but they are fun to watch anyway so you should tune in. For example, last year's League Pass must-watch team for many was the Golden State Warriors: they barely ever won, but were fun to watch!
With their new acquisitions, the Timberwolves could be the newest team added to the much-watch list. Here are the top five reasons why:
Ball Movement
1 of 5While I don't think that Ricky Rubio will even be a top 10 point guard in the NBA, he is a guy who can move the rock.
With a true pass-first point guard, the offense is spread around and it gives many different players the opportunity to score the ball.
Maybe it's just me, but it excites me that Anthony Tolliver or Nikola Pekovic could be a scoring contributor on a NBA team. Sharing the wealth, for me, makes teams appear to be more exciting, like those Phoenix Suns' teams of old when everyone could shoot the ball.
This could be one of those teams.
Three Guys Who Can Flat out Score
2 of 5Now that the Timberwolves have Derrick Williams, they have two guys who can't do anything really except score, and another who can rebound, score and basically nothing else. The players I'm talking about of course are Derrick Williams, Michael Beasley and Kevin Love respectively.
Having guys who are one dimensional may be a poor way to build a winning basketball team, but it's a fun way to build a must-watch cellar dweller.
Just those three guys could end up averaging 20 points per game each, while also allowing whoever they're defending to score over 20 a game as well.
That's a recipe for a fun basketball experience.
Kevin Love, the Rebounding Machine
3 of 5One of the new beloved stars of the last NBA season is rebounding champion Kevin Love.
Love, along with Blake Griffin, was one of the two players who made the All-Star game despite playing on absolutely horrendous teams.
Even though I don't think that Love deserved to be an All-Star with such a weak team, he is extremely fun to watch. When the ball goes up, you have to look at Love jetting for the rebound. It's a different experience from watching a player like Dwight Howard get a rebound because Love can't just "out-big" everybody else on the floor.
I don't like to throw this around because no one is quite this level, but he positions himself so well, it's almost like Rodman.
Some of the numbers that Love puts up are complete empty stats. The main reason that he averages so many rebounds is because, honestly, there's no one else on the team who even tries to get rebounds. His scoring is also helped by playing on a team so reliant on scoring.
That said, Kevin Love is fun to watch.
Unpredictable Personalities
4 of 5The Timberwolves have plenty of guys with big egos and a notable big personality.
Kevin Love, of course, has reason to have a big ego after recording the first 30-30 game since Moses Malone, making the All-Star team, and winning the rebounding title in 2010.
However, he is not the only player on the T'Wolves with swagger.
Ricky Rubio and Derrick Williams both come into the NBA as highly-touted players, and they are absolutely going to do what they can to prove themselves in the NBA.
In addition to the egos of the three aforementioned Timberwolves, Michael Beasley is an undeniable headcase. He was busted this offseason for smoking pot, and also notably got into an altercation during a streetball league this summer.
What happens when you put three egos with a psycho on a team with no direction and weak leadership?

No Defense!
5 of 5This is what makes the team itself so horrible in the standings, but what makes them so much fun to watch. Not only will they score a lot of points in entertaining ways, but they will also allow a plethora of points as well.
This strategy is what made the last few League Pass teams: the Warriors, the Thunder, the Knicks, etc.
Sure, the Timberwolves aren't winning many games anytime soon, but they sure will be fun to watch!
