Toronto Raptors Select Jonas Valanciunas with the 5th Overall Pick

Yup, he did it again.

Bryan Colangelo passes up on Brandon Knight and Kemba Walker among others to select another Euro.

Jonas Valanciunas, the 19-year-old Lithuanian talent, was passed on by Cleveland in favor of Tristan Thompson.

Jonas was dubbed as the second-best big man in the draft next to Utah's Enes Kanter, but because of his contract situation, there's a good chance he will not play in the NBA next season.

Jonas averaged 7.7 points per game in the Euroleague, and scored 12 points per game playing in the Lithuanian League and the Baltic League.

The Raptors must believe Jonas is the real deal and a center worth building around after passing up on NCAA-champion Kemba Walker who scored 23.5 points per game and led his team to win it all last season.

Brandon Knight, another rookie fans highly desired, has the size and potential to be a force in the NBA. Charlotte's Bismack Biyombo is clearly a better defender than Valanciunas, so Colangelo's decision to pick Jonas leaves fans puzzled as to what he expects from the European stud.

Jonas is much more aggressive on defense than Bargnani, but is still too skinny to really thrive as an NBA center. Jonas has compared himself with Toronto's Chris Bosh, and didn't seem very confident speaking about what he could bring to Toronto.

Jonas isn't very polished on offense, and doesn't block many shots either.

If Jonas decides to head over here, Toronto will have to trade Bargnani without a doubt, which complicates things even further as Bargnani's value is much lower than his production should warrant.

If Toronto feels Jonas is our long-term solution at center, what will Colangelo be targeting during free agency? Should we allow the team to play without a real center for another season before Jonas heads over?

Are there other trades B.C might have up his sleeve? Is Jarryd Bayless our future at the PG? How long does this team want to remain a bottom-dwelling team?

A night which was supposed to reward fans after a year of sacrifice has turned into a nightmare full of confusion. What has he done? Am I underestimating Valanciunas?

Post your thoughts.
