NBA Trade Rumors: Milwaukee Bucks Strike a 3-Way Deal with Bobcats and Kings
Latest NBA Trade Rumor Has the Bucks Making a Last-Minute Deal
We are now less than two hours away from the start of the 2011 NBA draft, but the word around the campfire is that a major deal has already been struck.
According to Adrian Wojnarowski of Yahoo! Sports, the Milwaukee Bucks, Sacramento Kings and Charlotte Bobcats have agreed to a three-way deal that involves a whole bunch of draft picks and players trading places.
Here's the deal:
Bucks get: No. 19 pick, Stephen Jackson, Shaun Livingston, Beno Udrih
Kings get: No. 10 pick, John Salmons
Bobcats get: No. 7 pick, Corey Maggette
For the record, the Bobcats also managed to keep the No. 9 overall pick. That means they now have two top-10 picks and it puts them in perfect position to nab Texas forward Tristan Thompson if they so please. To boot, they're getting a pretty solid bench option in Maggette.
The Bucks definitely have some depth at guard with Livingston and Udrih coming in, and Jackson is a pretty productive player. The No. 19 pick should afford them a chance to fill out their frontcourt.
For the Kings, I think this is a pretty good deal.
Salmons is a solid shooting guard, and at the very least he gives the Kings some good depth.
The question now is whether or not they will use the No. 10 pick on a point guard (i.e. Jimmer Fredette or Kemba Walker) to start opposite Tyreke Evans or if they'll use it on a small forward.
The first option seems more likely.
On balance, there's not much to complain about here. We'll get the full picture of the deal soon enough.
