NBA Trade Rumors: Knicks, Bucks, Lakers Inquiring About Cavaliers Ramon Sessions

Andrew KulhaJun 23, 2011

There have been many rumors swirling around the Cleveland Cavaliers and their desire to start moving pieces around before, and even after the 2011 NBA draft.

The Cavaliers are highly expected to draft point guard Kyrie Irving out of Duke with the No. 1 overall pick tonight in the 2011 NBA draft.

With Irving on their roster, fellow point guard Ramon Sessions will be bumped down to No. 3 point guard on Cleveland’s roster.

Sessions has been on the trading block for the past month or so, and now word has come out that three teams have contacted the Cavaliers regarding Sessions: the New York Knicks, Los Angeles Lakers and Milwaukee Bucks.

Beat writer Gery Woelfel tweeted that all three teams were inquiring about Sessions.

Let’s take a look at these three locations and how Ramon Sessions would fit in:

New York Knicks

1 of 3

Chauncey Billups has struggled with injury since coming to the Knicks, so the need for a backup who can fill a starter's role if need be will be very important.

Also, if you look at New York's current backup situation, Toney Douglas seems like he feels more comfortable playing off ball, so considering him as a viable backup option might not be in the Knicks' best interest.

Sessions would be a great fit in New York

Milwaukee Bucks

2 of 3

Sessions would be a great fit in New York.

But I just don’t see Milwaukee working out too well for Sessions.

Obviously he is going to have to go and play wherever he ends up, but obviously Milwaukee is the least appealing spot for him to end up at.

He would be a backup behind Brandon Jennings, who plays a lot of minutes, and I’m just not sure what his overall contribution would equal out to.

Los Angeles Lakers

3 of 3

I think this scenario would work out the best for Sessions, but probably not as much for the Lakers.

Obviously going to a team that is always in contention for the title would be a huge step up for Sessions, so I can’t see him being too unhappy about moving to L.A.

On the court, Sessions will be a quick backup point guard who can do an adequate job for them. I’m not sure what the situation with Derek Fisher is going into the future, but it would be good to have Sessions on the roster.
