2011 NBA Mock Draft: Jimmer Fredette Highlights and Pro Projections
Jimmer Fredette is the most talked about player in the 2011 NBA Draft class. Everyone has their own opinion on how "The Jimmer" will end up at the professional level.
Some believe he is a top-10 pick, others say he is a lock for the lottery, and some think he won't be drafted until the late teens.
There are rumors stating that teams are willing to trade up for Fredette. I'm not so sure that would be a great idea. However, I do believe that Fredette will be a strong player in the NBA.
I don't see Fredette as a starter at the next level, which is why I wouldn't trade up for him. Fredette will be a role player in the NBA, and a very good one at that. He's the type of guy that's going to win a sixth man award at some point in his career.
If you didn't watch college basketball this past season then you missed quite a show. Watch the highlight video to see what Fredette is capable of.
What you'll notice is that this kid can shoot.
Fredette is the best shooter in the draft, and that is why everyone wants to talk about him. People say he is too undersized for the NBA. At 6'3", 196 pounds Fredette's height isn't his biggest issue.
When you watch the video you see his superb shooting range, and his excellent hustle at the 1:50 mark. However, you won't see many great defensive plays. Naturally, highlight videos for guards don't focus on their defensive abilities, but everybody knows Fredette's defense is sub-par.
With that said though, I believe Fredette is the perfect player for a sixth man role in the NBA. I also think he is a lock for the lottery and the Utah Jazz need to draft him at No. 12. He will put people in the seats, which is something the Jazz desperately need.
Jimmer Fredette will never be an All-Star, but he will be a relentless player off the bench that provides a team with great energy. He'll make key clutch shots to keep a team close or pull the game away.
Tell Fredette what to do, and he'll go do it. He's that type of player.
