2011 NBA Draft Results: Josh Selby Goes No. 49 to Memphis Grizzlies
As talented as they come, Josh Selby has upside as high as any other prospect in this year’s draft class. Unfortunately though, we have yet to see that upside on full display.
Selby spent his freshman year in college at the University of Kansas, but his brief time there was marked by immaturity and selfishness, traits which left him riding the pine more often than stepping foot on the court. As soon as the season was over, he was quick to do away with any ties he still had to the Kansas program, sending up even more red flags in the process.
Selby’s first game on Dec. 18 in 2010 was simply magnificent, as he scored 21 points and hit a clutch shot at the end of the game to help the Jayhawks beat the USC Trojans. However, at the end of his freshman year the box scores showed him averaging just 7.9 points, 2.2 assists and 2.2 rebounds per game.
The guard’s athleticism is almost incomprehensible and his potential is through the roof.
Selby's wait ended at No. 49 when he was selected by Memphis.
