NBA Draft 2011: The Washington Wizards Involved in Trade Talks

Kevon RobinsonJun 21, 2011

The Washington Wizards may actually have a chance to draft Enes Kanter to fulfill his dream of playing with ex-Wildcat John Wall.  There have been many reports of Utah and Cleveland talking about swapping picks with Washington.  The trades looks like this:

Utah/Washington Scenario:

Washington gets:

No. 3 overall pick in the draft

Utah gets:

No. 6 and No. 18 pick in the draft

It seems simple but this trade should be done by draft night, because it would either be Derrick Williams or Enes Kanter falling to them which is still a "win-win" situation for the Wizards.  As I've expressed before in my previous writings, the Wizards don't need to spend their first round draft pick on a role player, they need a game-changer...and Kanter is just that.

Cleveland gets:

After Jonas Valanciunas has resolved his buyout problem but still can't play in the NBA for the upcoming season the Cavaliers still love him.  But they are willing to move down to get him now that his stock has dropped.  This trade will need to go down on draft night due to the uncertainty of whether or not Kanter will be picked in the top three.
