Chris Paul For 2009 NBA MVP
I know it is a bold prediction, but I am sticking with it and I'll tell you why. First off, have you seen him play? That is one of the main reasons I am picking him. Some say he isn't worthy of the honor, but I am here to tell you that he is.
When Chris Paul was drafted by the New Orleans Hornets form Wake Forest, I thought he would be good, but never expected this. CP3 played like his life depended on it his rookie year, and really didn't have the talent around him at that point to be playing the way he was.
He is called many names. "CP3," because he plays basketball like he plays Play Station 3, with nothing to lose. He is called "The Smiling Assassin" because he is one of the nicest men in the NBA, until he is in competition.
I personally like him because he plays as if there is nothing to lose. And that is something that not many players, especially point guards, do. You have the exception with a few, but none like Paul.
I thought he would have a good team last year, and they might do well. They surpassed that and made the playoffs. Paul received a nomination for NBA MVP. He came second to the Lakers' Kobe Bryant.
The Hornets could again make the playoffs this year behind Paul. Last year, he averaged about 21 points and 11 assists. And, he is arguably the best point guard in the NBA today. He proved he was great at the Olympics this summer.
Paul played more minutes than Deron Williams and Jason Kidd, who was the starter. This not only proved to the NBA that he was great, but it was proven to the entire world, which was even better to me.
He has competition for MVP, yes, with the likes of Kobe, LeBron, Garnett, and others who may surprise us. But, it is a big possibility this year that he could do it. I think if he can do as well or better than last year, we are looking at the new NBA MVP.
Of course this is my opinion, but what do you think?
