LeBron James and the Top-5 NBA Players to Wear No. 23

I'm sure before you even scroll up to click the "Next" button, you can already guess who the No.1 NBA player will be on this list.

When you think of No. 23, Jordan is the obvious answer, but who else has donned that sacred number.

Let's take a look at Michael and the rest of the bunch who certainly aren't as well known for No. 23.  

1) Michael Jordan

Not only is Michael Jordan the best to wear No. 23, but he is also the best player to ever play in the NBA.

No one comes close in comparison to MJ, and it looks as if no one will for quite some time.

Jordan was inducted into the Hall of Fame in 2009 and rightfully so. Six rings and a career 30.1 ppg is very remarkable. His legacy will live on forever.

2) Calvin Murphy

Calvin Murphy was a great player for his 13 years of service to basketball.

Murphy, like Jordan, was inducted into the Hall of Fame and is one of the best scorers under 6'0".

He is also very well known for his ability to knock down his free throws. He is a career 90.7 percent from the stripe and holds the seventh-best percentage in NBA history. 

3) Marcus Camby

Marcus Camby is best known for his defense.

In the 2006-07 season, Camby won the Defensive Player of the Year award, leading the league in blocked shots per game.

He has also been apart of both the first and second All-Defensive Teams. 

4) Jason Richardson

Jason Richardson has had a very solid NBA career, starting out as just a dunker and later on, developing a lethal three-point shot.

Richardson's claim to fame, however, is definitely his dunking ability.

He won the Slam Dunk Contest twice and still continues to "throw down" whenever he has an opportunity.

5) LeBron James

If LeBron had continued to wear 23, he probably would be higher up on this list. But because he decided to make the switch to No. 6, he rounds out the end of this top-five list.

Many have made the comparison of James to Jordan, but until he wins his first championship that claim is hard to justify.

He is far and away the best Cavalier to wear No. 23, but will Cleveland fans want that to go down in the history books?
