Miami Dolphins: Matt Moore Could Be Chad Henne's Competition in 2011
In case you didn't know, Chad Henne is kind of in hot water.
After showing tons of upside in 2009, Henne was mediocre at best as the designated starter in 2010. His confidence seemed shaky at times, which seemed to be his biggest problem, and Miami Dolphins fans (DolFans!) are pretty sick of it.
Of course, when Dolphins general manager Jeff Ireland drafted all kinds of offensive weaponry at nearly every position besides quarterback, a ton of people groaned, myself included. Because while we were so sure the Dolphins traded into the second round to grab Ryan Mallett, who was sitting, waiting for his name to be called, we knew that we couldn't afford to not have a quarterback.

Rookie WRs Who Will Outplay Their Draft Value 📈
Since then, Chad Henne's gone on record to express his happiness for the 'Fins not drafting a quarterback.
Of course, the Dolphins weren't going to totally leave him without any competition. Come on, guys, they're not that stupid.
Take it away with the rumors, Palm Beach Post:
"If we’re going to sit here and throw darts at all of the potentially available quarterbacks that could fit with the Dolphins this offseason and give Chad Henne some much-needed competition, let’s add another target that makes sense: Carolina’s Matt Moore.
Moore, undrafted out of Oregon State in 2007, signed with Dallas that summer when Jeff Ireland was the director of scouting and Tony Sparano the assistant head coach.
"
They liked Moore’s potential when he completed 21-of-29 passes for 182 yards and a touchdown in two preseason games, but couldn’t keep him on the roster because of a numbers crunch. They tried to sneak him through waivers and bring him back on the practice squad, but Carolina instead scooped him up.
Awesome.
Matt Moore isn't such a bad choice here. It's possible that Moore could become a free agent, pending the lockout and, let's be honest, he'll be a hell of a lot cheaper than someone like Carson Palmer, who could cost the Dolphins a first-round pick in next year's draft, which should be a deep one. Kevin Kolb could cost just as much while Kyle Orton, though cheaper, would definitely be pricier when comparing to Matt Moore.
The rationale behind this, should it happen, is good. I don't think the 'Fins should be going after a multi-million-dollar quarterback and it's not like the majority of DolFans are willing to give up on Chad Henne entirely. Matt Moore would definitely bump the level of competition Henne needs to force him to improve his game and produce a higher-quality product. It's capitalism, you guys. Economics 101.
Even further, at just 26, Matt Moore still has potential. He has starter's experience, which is always good to work with. I'm not saying the bro will take the spot, hands down, but if he improves, he could be exactly the starter that Miami needs should Chad Henne falter.
Overall, this would be a solid sign should Jeff Ireland go through with it when this silly lockout ends. It won't win a ton of DolFans over, but if Henne won't develop as many Miami fans say, this move can only help.
What say you?
