2008-09 NBA Power Rankings; Start Of The Season
Well I'm getting ready to watch the Boston Celtics last preseason game, and i thought it would be a good time to tell you my 2008-09 NBA season predictions since it kicks off next Tuesday. Unlike past years the Eastern Conference will become more competitive then past years. You will learn the reasons why coming up.
Season Power Rankings, Week 1
1. Boston Celtics; Deeper bench and young future stars in Bill Walker and JR Giddens with the big 3 equals a better team.
2. New Orleans Hornets; Chris Paul will be this years MVP.
3. Los Angeles Lakers; They made it to the NBA Finals without Andrew Bynum...didn't they?
UPDATE: Kobe Bryant went down with an hyper extended knee tuesday night. How long will he be out? That just might effect this team.
4. Detroit Pistons; This teams core players are aging, but it wont effect the usual beast of the EAST.
5. Utah Jazz; This team has one of leagues best all star duo's in Daron Williams and Carlos Boozer. Expect that to make them a force in West.
6. Houston Rockets; Ron Artests attitude will be this teams x-factor. They just might have a big 3 that will compete with the defending champs.
7. Dallas Mavericks; With Jason Terry coming off the bench expect an even better Dallas team.
8. San Antonio Spurs; Will this team stay healthy?
9. Phoenix Suns; Will this be Shaq's last year?
10. Cleveland Cavaliers; With Mo Williams running this team will make them better than last year.
11. Orlando Magic; Tony Battie returning will make this team even better than last year.
12. Portland Trailblazers; Will this team make its mark this year or next?
13. Atlanta Hawks; With the young players this team has, watch them make the eastern conference playoffs easily.
14. Toronto Raptors; Jermaine O'neil joining this team will make it a beast in the Atlantic.
15. Philadelphia 76ers; Elton Brand and this teams youth will guarantee a playoff spot.
16. Milwaukee Bucks; This team has a big 3 of its own.
17. Washington Wizards; Agent Zero is returning, but they wont be good enough to make the playoffs.
18. Chicago Bulls; Vinny Del Negro? Who the hell is this guy?
19. Los Angeles Clippers; How will the acquisition of Baron Davis impact this team?
20. Charlotte Bobcats; This team will be no different with Larry Brown.
21. Denver Nuggets; Allen Iverson aging, and no Camby? The 5 year season winning streak will come to a close.
22. Golden State Warriors; Baron Davis gone, and the injury prone Ellis says it all.
23. Indiana Pacers; Without Jermaine O'neal this team will be nothing.
24. Miami Heat; To expect D-Wade, Marion and Beasley to mount a playoff push is crazy.
25. Sacramento Kings; They have nothing that will make them an impact team.
26. Minnesota Timberwolves; They have no one besides Al Jefferson.
27. New Jersey Nets; Year 2010, need i say more?
28. Memphis Grizzlies; This team will not be a noticable team in the west.
29. Oklahoma City Thunder; Like usual years, the move will affect this team significantly.
30. New York Knicks; With D'antoni they will be the same old Knicks.
