MLB Fantasy Baseball Box Score Breakouts – 5/25/11

Here’s a look at the unheralded fantasy baseball players who played well yesterday.

Boston at Cleveland

The Red Sox exploded on the Tribe. All the big dogs went off.

Jarrod Saltalamacchia went two for four with two runs, a home run and three RBI. Mike Cameron went two for four with a run and an RBI. Drew Sutton went three for five with two runs and an RBI. Shelly Duncan went two for four with two RBI for Cleveland.

Jon Lester fired six scoreless innings to improve to 7-1.

Toronto at New York Yankees

Andruw Jones went three for three with a pair of home runs and four RBI. Aaron Hill went two for four with a run. Eric Thames went two for four with a run and an RBI.

Seattle at Minnesota

Franklin Gutierrez went two for three with two runs and a homer. Brendan Ryan went two for three with an RBI. Erik Bedard tossed six scoreless innings to improve to 3-4 with a 3.48 ERA. Alex Casilla went two for three for the Twins.

Atlanta at Pittsburgh

Jordan Schafer went two for five with a run. Alex Gonzalez went two for five. Jose Tabata went two for four with a run and his 13th stolen base. Steve Pearce went three for five with a home run and two RBI.

Matt Diaz and Lyle Overbay each went two for three. Mike Minor gave up one run with five strikeouts in 5-2/3 innings. James McDonald gave up two runs with six strikeouts in six innings.

Neither starter factored into the decision.

Washington at Milwaukee

The big guns got it done at the plate for Milwaukee. Michael Morse went one for four with a home run and three RBI (19).

Zack Greinke gave up three runs on five hits with ten strikeouts in seven innings for the win.

Chicago White Sox at Texas

C.J. Wilson gave up one run on five hits with five strikeouts in 6-1/3 innings to improve to 5-3 with a 3.25 ERA.

Gavin Floyd gave up two runs on three hits with five strikeouts, but took the loss. He lowered his ERA to 3.61. Gordon Beckham went two for three.

Los Angeles Dodgers at Houston
Aneury Rodriguez and Ted Lilly each gave up one run in six innings, but got no-decisions. J.R. Towles went three for four with an RBI. Dioner Navvaro went two for four.

St. Louis at San Diego

Mat Latos gave up one run on six hits with seven strikeouts in eight innings to pick up the win. Perhaps the gem came because I sat him after getting strong starts from Kershaw, Hellickson, Beckett and Nolasco.

Jason Bartlett went three for four with a run. Brad Hawpe went two for four with a home run. Jon Jay went two for four with a run. Chris Carpenter took the loss despite allowing two earned runs with six strikeouts in eight innings.

Kansas City at Baltimore

Luke Scott went two for four with a run and an RBI. Mark Reynolds went one for three with two runs and a homer. Melky Cabrera went two for three with a home run and two RBI (29).

Jake Arrieta gave up two runs on five hits with seven strikeouts in six innings to improve to 6-2 with a 4.57 ERA.

Arizona at Colorado

Ian Kennedy gave up one run in eight innings to improve to 6-1 with a 3.01 ERA. Jason Hammel gave up two unearned runs in seven innings, but took the loss.

Kelly Johnson went two for four with a run and a stolen base. Seth Smith went two for three with a run.

New York Mets at Chicago Cubs

Jason Pridie went two for four. Ruben Tejada went two for four with a run. Daniel Murphy went one for three with two RBI. Reed Johnson went one for two with a run and two RBI.

Cincinnati at Philadelphia

Ben Francisco went one for four with a home run and two RBI. John Mayberry, Jr. went two for four with a RBI. Wilson Valdez went three for six. Fred Lewis went two for four.

Oakland at Los Angeles Angels

Hank Conger went two for four with a run. Alexi Amarista went two for three. David DeJesus and Cliff Pennington each went two for four.

Ervin Santana gave up one run with six strikeouts in six innings to improve to 3-4 with a 3.95 ERA.

Florida at San Francisco

Chris Coghlan went two for five with two runs and two stolen bases. Logan Morrison went three for five with two runs. Omar Infante went two for six. Freddy Sanchez went four for six with a run.

Nate Schierholtz went two for five with a run. Miguel Tejada went two for five with two runs. Chris Volstad gave up two runs with six strikeouts in six innings, but got a no-decision.
