NFL Free Agency Speculation: 6 Teams in the Mix for Santonio Holmes
Santonio Holmes is going to be one of the premier free-agent receivers on the market this offseason and many teams will be looking for his services.
Whether it is a team rebuilding or a team looking to break through, Holmes' services will be in high demand.
He comes with some baggage, thus the reason the Pittsburgh Steelers traded him, but he has tons of talent and still has some upside.
Holmes is a burner with tremendous hands and did win the Steelers a Super Bowl in 2010 after his phenomenal sideline catch.
Here are some teams, not named the New York Jets, who will be looking to add Holmes this offseason.
6. Washington Redskins

Another team that is looking to get back into the win column is the Washington Redskins. Not only are the Redskins lacking at the WR position, but they are lacking at the QB position. Santana Moss is going to hit free agency once the lockout is lifted, and there have been no indications that the Redskins are going to bring him back.
With it looking more and more likely that the Redskins are going to enter next season with John Beck as the starting QB, the Redskins are going to need all the help they can give him.
Adding Leonard Hankerson in the draft was a start, but adding Holmes would be a quality addition. Anthony Armstrong had a breakout season last year, but putting Armstrong in the slot with Hankerson and Holmes out wide would make for a solid receiving corps.
5. Cleveland Browns

Santonio Holmes has been on a winning team his entire NFL career, so it remains to be seen whether or not he would want to go to a team that has not exactly been on the verge of the breaking through for quite some time.
Cleveland has struggled to add a receiver since trading away Braylon Edwards and really need to bring in a playmaking WR for Colt McCoy.
Holmes would be a perfect fit for Cleveland, who recently acquired former North Carolina WR Greg Little with their second-round pick. Little is expected to be a quality possession WR and red-zone threat, while Holmes can help stretch the field.
4. Jacksonville Jaguars

With Mike Sims-Walker set to hit free agency once the lockout is lifted, the Jaguars will be in the market for a replacement.
Mike Thomas is expected to replace Sims-Walker, but Holmes would fit in well opposite of Thomas. The Jaguars desperately need a player to stretch the field, and Holmes could be the playmaking threat that this offense has been lacking over the past couple seasons.
With David Garrard hanging by a thread after the selection of Blaine Gabbert, he is going to need all the help he can get, and Holmes fits the bill.
3. San Francisco 49ers
4 of 6
The San Francisco 49ers will enter training camp (assuming there is one) with an open QB competition and a lot of needs at the receiver position.
San Francisco needs to add a second receiver to play opposite of Michael Crabtree this offseason and need to add a playmaker at the WR position. The 49ers initially acquired Ted Ginn to be that playmaking WR, however, that experiment has not worked out too well and San Francisco should look to move on.
Holmes can make an impact in the return game as well as the receiving game and really open up for field for Crabtree. Crabtree has not been afraid to go over the middle and Holmes speed should open up those routes a bit more.
2. Houston Texans
5 of 6
Houston may be the best fit for Santonio Holmes if he opts to leave New York. Houston has an explosive offense and adding Holmes to the mix would make it that much more lethal.
Arian Foster provides a solid run game, while Matt Schaub and Andre Johnson are a lethal combination. Adding Holmes would be simply horrifying for opposing corners.
Houston has struggled to find a complement to Johnson, and Holmes may be exactly what the doctor ordered. Teams will not be able to double team Johnson like they have in the past or they will risk man to man coverage against one of the quickest, speediest receivers in the game.
Houston's defense is on the way with the addition of Wade Phillips, and adding Holmes to their offense may be the final piece to knock off Peyton Manning and the Indianapolis Colts.
1. Seattle Seahawks
6 of 6
The Seattle Seahawks went further than anyone expected last season when they defeated the New Orleans Saints in the 2011 NFL Playoffs.
Seattle extended Mike Williams contract after his performance last season, but the team could still use another impact WR. Holmes would be the ideal fit as they would have a rare blend of size and strength on one side and speed on the other.
With the Seahawks unaware of who their starting QB is going to be next season, adding a star WR to the mix makes perfect sense.
