Dallas Cowboys: Roger Staubach and the Five Biggest Proponents of Tony Romo
If Tony Romo has nothing else in life, he has his share of enemies.
If he passes for over 4,000 yards, the Cowboys are too pass-happy, and if he throws over 30 touchdown passes and has double0digit interceptions then he’s making too many mistakes.
Danged if he does and danged if he doesn’t, right?
Well, maybe my man’s luck is starting to change. Last week, former Cowboys quarterback Roger Staubach came to his defense, saying that Romo is a Super Bowl quarterback.
It’s pretty hard to disagree with him if you look at Romo’s stats. Tony has won almost half of the games that he’s started, he’s completed over 64 percent of his passes, and he has a career passer rating of 95.
If we’re to judge players based off of statistics, then Romo is one the best quarterbacks in the National Football League, straight up.
Okay, don’t believe me then? Fine, maybe you’ll believe these cats.
Here are five of Romo’s biggest supporters.
Jerry Jones

Of course, the owner is going to be behind his franchise player, but Jerry also knows it doesn’t get much better than Tony.
Before the draft, Double J said that that drafting a quarterback is for future consideration and not on the table for the team right now.
If Tony doesn’t win a Super Bowl with the ‘Boys, then its because his owner failed to build a winning team around him and not because of Romo’s shortcomings.
Kurt Warner

Former NFL and Super Bowl MVP Kurt Warner recently said he believes Tony is an elite quarterback.
If anything, Warner is very familiar with the path that Romo is walking. While Tony didn’t rise through the ranks of the Arena League like Kurt, he did have to fight his way to the top, as he wasn’t drafted, just like Kurt.
Cowboys fans just hope that Romo can bring a Super Bowl to Dallas like Warner did for St. Louis.
Jason Garrett

Jason is another guy who can appreciate Tony’s struggle. Romo wasn’t a top ten draft pick and he’s never really had many people on his side.
Besides being the head coach of the Dallas Cowboys, Garrett is best known as being Troy Aikman’s backup.
Garrett didn’t choose Romo and could have very well campaigned for a new QB in Dallas. But he didn’t, and under Garrett’s tutelage, Romo has flourished as well as his stats.
Bill Parcells

Parcells took Romo under his wing, and even though Bill is no longer wearing Cowboys colors, Tony still lives by his rules.
Romo still studies Parcells' 11 quarterback commandments before each season, and even though Romo is blamed for sending Parcells into retirement, Parcells still remains a big Romo supporter.
Sean Payton

Who dat! Sean may have moved on to New Orleans, but he’s responsible for bringing Tony to Dallas.
Payton told Romo that the ‘Boys were interested in his services before, during, and after the draft, and Tony was signed by Dallas as a free agent after he went undrafted.
I think Payton is more than content with what he has in N.O. in Drew Brees, but best believe if he ever has to get another quarterback, he’ll inquire about the services of Tony Romo.
