Dolan Promises Walsh No More Isiah, Interesting Clause in His New Contract
According to Marc Berman of the New York Post, Knicks owner James Dolan has assured his General Manager and President that he will not attempt to re-hire Isiah Thomas in any basketball capacity.
Whew.
As the two sides progress towards a new contract, rumored to be for two years, Walsh has made a request that is expected to be granted and included in his contract—that Walsh be allowed to name and hire his successor.
The most important word in that?
Hire.
This alludes to the fact that the next person to make the basketball decisions for the Knickerbockers is not currently a member of the Knicks staff.
Sorry Allan Houston, looks like you won't be "the man" when Donnie steps aside.
This also takes Glen Grunwald and Mark Warkentien out of the discussion as well.
This begs the question...WHO does Donnie Walsh envision to continue what he started after he walks out of 2 Penn Plaza for the last time?
Kiki Vandeweghe?
Chris Mullin?
Larry Bird?
The choices are endless, including hundreds of names most people have never heard of.
But in Donnie we trust, so undoubtedly his selection will be a wise one.
