The NBA Playoffs: What Are the Odds That Memphis & Atlanta Will Make the Finals?

T.J. McaloonMay 5, 2011

Welcome to another podcast show of the T.J. McAloon and the Sports Half Hour.

Have you thought about this yet? Have you really sat down and pondered the fact that the potential last NBA Finals before a lock out this summer maybe between the Atlanta Hawks and the Memphis Grizzles?

It's not like this has not happened before to a major American professional sport. It's not like, oh say, the National Hockey League, had its champion before a work stoppage be from a non-traditional market like, oh, say, Tampa Bay.

What is that? They did? And what happened after that was the league took the following year off because of player salaries became too high and them not wanting to take massive pay cuts.

Kind of odd the parallels between the two leagues, huh? But that's for another article and posting; this is supposed to focus on the gambling odds for these two franchises that may crash the NBA Finals party hosted by Commissioner David Stern. His two invitations are meant for Miami, Boston or Chicago in the East, or for Los Angeles, Dallas or Oklahoma City, in the West.

Joining me on the podcast is Paul Bessire.. He is credited for creating the web site, of the Prediction Machine. Some of you may have heard of it; some of you may not have. But, the prediction machine is, simply put, a machine that helps predict the outcome of sporting events.

Paul, has gone on a tear while using his machine. During the 2011 NFL Playoffs, his machine went 9-0. Over the last eight Super Bowls, his machine has predicted six of them correctly. And for the NBA, his machine has called each playoff series winner correctly this year.

Give this one a listen if you're into gambling, as you may make some money out of his words.
