2011 NFL Draft Grades: How Did Each Team Do in the Third Round?
65. Carolina Panthers: Terrell McLain, DT, South Florida
Carolina had a ton of needs to fill, and with McLain, they get a guy who can provide a spark on the defensive line and could be a starter from day one. Grade: B
66. Cincinnati Bengals: Dontay Moch, LB, Nevada
The Bengals got two big-time offensive weapons in rounds one and two, and then addressed their defense with grabbing Moch in day three. He is a talented linebacker who helps fill out what already is a talented linebacking unit. Grade: A-
67. Denver Broncos: Nate Irving, LB, NC State
Irving is a solid option who should help out one of the worst defenses in the league. But at this point, this could have been a bit of a stretch for Denver. Grade: C
68. Buffalo Bills: Kelvin Sheppard, LB, LSU
Sheppard is a beast at the linebacker position. He has good size and athleticism, especially for someone available at this point. Look for Sheppard to be this team's starting inside linebacker in week one. Grade: A-
69. Arizona Cardinals: Robert Housler, TE, Florida Atlantic
The Cardinals need all the help they can get on offense, so in that sense, this isn't too bad of a pick. But I think they could have waited on a tight end with the same level of talent later on in the draft. Grade: C+
70. Kansas City Chiefs: Justin Houston, DE, Georgia
Houston is a guy who has the talent to be a first round selection. The fact that Kansas City got Houston this late in the draft is just flat-out robbery. Grade: A+
71. Dallas Cowboys: DeMarco Murray, RB, Oklahoma
With this pick, Dallas added a guy who was one of the most productive college running backs over the past decade. The Cowboys running game has been nothing to write home about as of late, but they should get a boost in the backfield here with this former Sooner star. Grade: A
72. New Orleans Saints: Martez Wilson, LB, Illinois
Wilson has the talent of a first-round selection, which make it shocking to see that he fell this far. This pick just adds to what already has been a great draft for New Orleans,. Grade: A
73. New England Patriots: Stevan Ridley, RB, LSU
This was one of the most confusing picks of the draft in my opinion. I know New England is known for its ability to draft great, but taking two running backs in the first three rounds? I don't get it. Grade: D-
74. New England Patriots: Ryan Mallett, QB, Arkansas
Obviously New England isn't in need of a quarterback, but passing on Mallett was too hard to do here. If he can work out some kinks, this guy could be the perfect replacement candidate for Tom Brady down the road. Grade: B
75. Seattle Seahawks: John Moffitt, G, Wisconsin
Seattle made a few questionable picks throughout this draft, and while this one doesn't light up the board, it is the best of them all. Grade: C+
76. Jacksonville Jaguars: William Rackley, OG, Lehigh
Jacksonville continued to address the offense with this pick, hoping that Rackley can come in and fight for a starting spot. Grade: B-
77. Tennessee Titans: Jurrell Casey, DT, USC
The Titans had another solid draft pick here, adding a guy who should come in and fill that void left when Albert Haynesworth left town. Grade: B
78. St. Louis Rams: Austin Pettis, WR, Boise State
Pettis teamed up with Titus Young to form the best wide receiver duo in the country last year. They are hoping he can become a go-to target for Sam Bradford in St. Louis. Grade: B
79. Washington Redskins: Leonard Hankerson, WR, Miami
Washington had some questionable picks leading up to this round, but adding Hankerson in the third round is a true steal. This guy has first round talent and should make Redskins fans very proud. Grade: A
80. San Francisco 49ers: Chris Culliver, CB, South Carolina
The 49ers had one of the worst pass defenses in the NFL last season, so the cornerback position had to be addressed. Culliver is an average cornerback, but due to lack of talent, he could get a chance to start for this team. Grade: C
81. Oakland Raiders: DeMarcus Van Dyke, CB, Miami (Fla.)
Oakland knows that Nnamdi Asomugha is as good as gone, so by adding Van Dyke, they are hoping to get a viable replacement down the road. Grade: B-
82. San Diego Chargers: Vincent Brown, WR, San Diego State
The Chargers drafted a guy who played his college ball just down the road. With all the questions surrounding San Diego receivers, this is a pick that needed to happen. grade: B
83. New York Giants: Jerrel Jernigan, WR, Troy
This is a guy who many look at to be one of the biggest steals of the draft. Can't blame the Giants for pulling the trigger here in round three. Grade: B+
84. Tampa Bay Bucs: Mason Foster, LB, Washington
Foster is a guy who had the talent to go early on in the second round. With that said, Tampa Bay got a steal here snagging Foster in the late third. Grade: A-
85. Baltimore Ravens: Jah Reid, OT, UCF
Reid might have a hard time adjusting going up against talented NFL defensive lineman. But with the lack of talent at offensive tackle, this could be looked at as a project pick. Grade: C-
86. Kansas City Chiefs: Allen Bailey, DE, Miami
Bailey very well could have been a late first-round pick. He has the talent to come in and play right away, which makes him a great value pick here in the late third round. Grade: A
87. Indianapolis Colts: Drake Nevis, DT, LSU
Nevis played and succeed against the top competition in the country while at LSU. He should be able to provide immediate help to a defense that needs as much help as it can get. Grade: B
88. New Orleans Saints: Johnny Patrick, CB, Louisville
Patrick is a talented corner, but going up against Roddy White and Julio Jones twice a year won't be anything like he saw in the Big East this past season. Grade: C
89. San Diego Chargers: Shareece Wright, CB, USC
San Diego needed help in their pass defense, and with Wright, they get a guy who is a second round talent. Grade: A-
90. Philadelphia Eagles: Curtis Marsh, CB, Utah State
Many expected Philadelphia to go after a corner in round one, but now, they get their guy in round three. Unfortunately, Curtis Marsh doesn't compare to Jimmy Smith. Grade: C-
91. Atlanta Falcons: Akeem Dent, LB, Georgia
This is a guy who could have been drafted in the second round had it not been for some injuries. If healthy, this could be a big-time steal for the Falcons. Grade: B-
92. Oakland Raiders: Joe Barksdale, OT, LSU
Barksdale is a guy who has the talent to be one of the best offensive tackles in the draft, but he doesn't have the best work ethic. If he can improve that, this could be a steal. Grade: B
93. Chicago Bears: Chris Conte, S, Cal
This seemed like a bit of a stretch here, but who knows with Chicago? Every draft they have seems to bring along huge questions. Grade: C-
94. New York Jets: Kenrick Ellis, DE, Hampton
Ellis has a ton of talent, but he has some huge character issues, getting kicked out of South Carolina. If there is one guy who can turn around a talented defensive lineman, it's Rex Ryan. Grade: B-
95. Pittsburgh Steelers, Curtis Brown, DE, Texas
Brown is a top-10 corner who not many expected to fall this low in the draft. He was a two-year starter for Texas and should be looked to play in nickle and dime packages early on. Grade: B+
96. Green Bay Packers: Alex Green, RB, Hawaii
Green is a strong back who is a great receiver out of the backfield. He should fill a nice void as a third down back for the defending champs. Grade: C+
97. Carolina Panthers: Sione Fua, DT, Stanford
Fua is solid against the run, but not so great against the pass. A little too high for Fua, but he does have potential at the defensive tackle position. He could play sparingly for Carolina in his rookie season. Grade: C-
