NBA Trade Scenarios: Chris Paul and 10 Trade Offers for the New Orleans Hornets
For quite a while now, the idea of Chris Paul moving out of New Orleans has been speculated in NBA trade rumor talks.
And yet, he has not been traded.
Well, obviously the Hornets either never considered hearing any offers or didn't like what they would get in return.
Therefore, if anyone with the authority in NOLA's front office reads this (doubtful), then maybe CP3 will split from Mardi Gras.
1. Detroit Pistons
1 of 10
New Orleans Receives
Ben Gordon, Charlie Villanueva, Will Bynum and Detroit's 2012 first-round pick
Detroit Receives
If Detroit is willing to propose this trade, then it gives the Pistons a fresh start. Legit talent at PG, and then maybe Rip Hamilton would be willing to stay. Add in Tayshaun Prince and the Pistons are back to a solid team.
As for New Orleans, they load up at guard and receive a shot at drafting a future prospect.
2. Portland Trail Blazers
2 of 10
New Orleans Receives
Andre Miller, Rudy Fernandez and Portland's 2012 first-round draft pick
Portland Receives
With everything that those interested will be offering, the Hornets will be in power to make some favorable deals. That said, the Trail Blazers need a stud PG, while Fernandez and Miller remain in sync in the Big Easy.
3. Orlando Magic
3 of 10
New Orleans Receives
Brandon Bass, Jason Richardson and Gilbert Arenas
Orlando Receives
Chris Paul
Gilbert Arenas gets a complete overhaul and begins anew in the Mardi Gras. With Bass and Richardson, they should hit the ground running.
Dwight Howard then finally gets the outside threat he's needed for quite some time.
4. Miami Heat
4 of 10
New Orleans Receives
Mario Chalmers, Chris Bosh and Mike Miller
Miami Receives
Chris Paul and Carl Landry
The Heat need a legit PG if they are to contend year in and year out with LeBron and Wade. Although Bosh is definitely better than Landry, the addition of Chris Paul will be worth it.
The question here is how Mario Chalmers will perform as a starting PG in New Orleans.
5. Los Angeles Lakers
5 of 10
New Orleans Receives
Steve Blake, Shannon Brown and Ron Artest
Los Angeles Receives
Chris Paul
With the aging Derek Fisher at PG, bringing in Chris Paul would refresh the squad. Not to mention he would be such a threat that Kobe would have ample opportunities to further dominate.
Blake would battle for a starting position for the first time in his career, while Artest and Brown take over the spotlight.
6. Charlotte Bobcats
6 of 10
New Orleans Receives
D.J. Augustin, Gerald Henderson, Boris Diaw and Charlotte's 2012 first-round pick
Charlotte Receives
Chris Paul
The Bobcats would have to give up quite a bit for Paul, and maybe even more, but he would be one to build around. Especially with Michael Jordan sitting in the front office.
As for the Hornets, they would be deep at virtually every position, so they could throw various looks of size on the court.
7. New York Knicks
7 of 10
New Orleans Receives
Chauncey Billups and Landry Fields
New York Receives
Chris Paul
If Paul and Billups were together one would be missing out since neither are shooting guards. It would be a waste of talent and Knicks fans would be split, and nothing would get resolved.
Therefore, Billups goes to NOLA with Fields and the Hornets continue to build their chemistry, while Paul makes New York an immediate conference title contender.
8. Atlanta Hawks
8 of 10
New Orleans Receives
Kirk Hinrich, Jeff Teague, and Atlanta's 2012 and 2013 first-round picks
Atlanta Receives
Chris Paul
Paul immediately goes into Atlanta and elevates the play of an already legit Eastern Conference contender. With Al Horford at center, Joe Johnson at SG and Josh Smith at PF, the Hawks become very dangerous with Chris Paul.
New Orleans remains intact, just with more depth than talent at PG. However, the Hornets can play with the draft picks to gain leverage for a higher pick.
9. Los Angeles Clippers
9 of 10
New Orleans Receives
Mo Williams, Eric Gordon and Los Angeles' 2012 first-round pick
Los Angeles Receives
Chris Paul
This trade may excite Clippers season-ticket holder Bill Simmons, and it wouldn't surprise anyone since Donald Sterling owns the Clippers.
In any event, Paul pairing with Blake Griffin would do wonders, while the Hornets get a draft pick that's for sure to be in the top 10. Also, Williams and Gordon would start fresh with more combined talent from the forwards and center.
10. New Jersey Nets
10 of 10
New Orleans Receives
Deron Williams and Anthony Morrow
New Jersey Receives
Chris Paul
