2011 NFL Draft Grades: How Did Each Team Do in the Second Round?
33. New England Patriots: Ras-I-Dowling, CB, Virginia: Cornerback wasn't New England's top need, but Dowling was a standout corner at Virgina who should see time in nickel and dime packages this season with the Patriots. Grade: B-
34. Buffalo Bills: Aaron Williams, CB, Texas: Buffalo added Marcell Dareus in round one, and then hit another home run here, snagging Williams in round two. He should be an immediate starter either at corner or safety for the Bills. Grade: A
35. Cincinnati Bengals: Andy Dalton, QB, TCU: The Bengals know that Carson Palmer's time is done in Cincinnati. By adding Dalton, the Bengals get their quarterback of the future, and a good one at that. Grade: A
36. San Francisco 49ers: Colin Kaepernick, QB, Nevada: Jim Harbaugh wanted to land a quarterback in the draft, and he was able to scoop up a good one here in Kaepernick. He should have one year learning behind Alex Smith, and then the job is his in 2012. Grade: A-
37. Cleveland Browns: Jabaal Sheard, DE, Pittsburgh: Sherard is a guy who saw his stock rise leading up to the draft, and now, he will be looked at to fill an immediate need at the defensive end position in Cleveland. Grade: B-
38. Arizona Cardinals: Ryan Williams, RB, Virginia Tech: The Cardinals had one of the worst offenses in football last season. By adding Williams, they add depth to a backfield that certainly needs a boost. Grade: B-
39. Tennessee Titans: Akeem Ayers, OLB, UCLA: The Titans made a bold pick in round one with Jake Locker, and then answered by drafting the best player available in the second round in Ayers. He should be a starter at outside linebacker from day one for this team. Grade: A-
40. Dallas Cowboys: Bruce Carter, OLB, North Carolina: This is one of the big risk, possible big reward picks. If healthy, Carter very well could be one of the top defensive players to come out of this year's draft class. Grade: A-
41. Washington Redskins: Jarvis Jenkins, DT, Clemson: Washington clearly wanted to make an effort to improve their defense, but without a quality quarterback or running back on their roster, this team needed to address the offensive side of the ball here. Not to mention, Jenkins wasn't even the highest ranked DT available at this point. Grade: D+
42. Houston Texans: Brooks Reed, DE, Arizona: By adding Reed, the Texans land another explosive pass rusher, who should play some outside linebacker. Reed had a first round value, which makes this an exceptional pick at this point. Grade: A
43. Minnesota Vikings: Kyle Rudolph, TE, Notre Dame: The Vikings get the best tight end in this year's draft class, but that wasn't a huge position of need for this team. Nonetheless, a good tight end is always a young quarterback's best friend. Grade: B
44. Detroit Lions: Titus Young, WR, Boise State: With the pick, Detroit drafted the best player available, as oppose to drafting for need. Young is an ideal No. 3 wide-out for the Lions who should provide help in the return game as well. Grade: B+
45. Denver Broncos: Raheem Moore, S, UCLA: The Denver Broncos stuck with defense and added the best safety in this year's draft with this pick. Moore is fast, has great instincts, and should see the field right away for this Denver Broncos team. Grade: A-
46. Denver Broncos; Orlando Franklin, OG, Miami: Tim Tebow and Knowshon Moreno are in need of some protection and by adding Franklin, they get a versatile lineman who should step in and play right away. Grade: B
47. St. Louis Rams: Lance Kendricks, TE, Wisconsin: With this pick, Sam Bradford gets a tight end, which is always huge for a young quarterback. But Kendricks is a much better receiver then he is a blocker, which can be looked at as a positive and/or a negative. Grade: C
48. Oakland Raiders: Stefen Wisniewski, C, Penn State: Leave it to the Raiders to go ahead and select a guy far before he should come off the board. On the other hand, Wisniewski is a great kid with a lot of talent, who you really do have to root for. Grade: C
49. Indianapolis Colts: Benjamin Ijalana, OT, Villanova: The Colts made it obvious they are going to do everything in their power in order to protect Peyton Manning. Ijalana is raw, but he has great size and even better potential. Grade: B+
50. San Diego Chargers: Marcus Gilchrist, DB, Clemson: Gilchrist has good speed and versatility, but he wasn't the best corner on the board at this point. Chances are that he will take a while to adjust to the speed of the NFL game. Grade: C
51. Tampa Bay Bucs: Da'Quan Bowers, DE, Clemson: This was the biggest story of the draft, the fact that Bowers fell this far. If healthy, Bowers is one of the most dominant defensive linemen in this draft. This could go down as the biggest steal in recent history if he pans out. Grade: A
52. New York Giants: Marvin Austin, DT, North Carolina: Talent wise, Austin is a first rounder all the way. He has some character issues, but if those can be worked out, this has the chance to be a huge steal for the G-Men. Grade: A-
53. Chicago Bears: Stephen Paea, DT, Oregon State: Paea is the probably the strongest player in this year's draft class. With this pick, the Bears find their immediate replacement for Tommie Harris. Grade: A-
54. Philadelphia Eagles: Jaiquawn Jarrett, S, Temple: Jarrett is a great athlete, but he's undersized for the position and seemed like a bit of a stretch here for the Eagles. Grade; C-
55. Kansas City Chiefs: Rodney Hudson, C, Florida State: Hudson played guard for the majority of his college career, but he has the size and versatility to move around the line and fill in wherever Kansas City might need him. Grade: B
56. New England Patriots: Shane Vereen, RB, Cal: Vereen is an explosive runner, but this seems like a bit of a stretch here for New England. They needed to look for a defensive end before a second-string running back. Grade: C-
57. Detroit Lions: Mikel Leshoure, RB, Illinois: Most draft experts had Leshoure tagged as the second best running back in this year's draft class. With that said, this is a good value pick, but again, not one of Detroit's top needs at this point. Grade: B-
58. Baltimore Ravens: Torrey Smith, WR, Maryland: This seems like a pretty fitting pick here. Baltimore lacked production in their passing game last year, and with Smith, they get a solid No. 3 option. Grade: B
59. Cleveland Browns: Greg Little, WR, North Carolina: Colt McCoy needs some weapons on the offensive side of the ball, and with Little, he now has a starting receiver who he can develop a relationship with. Grade: B
60. Houston Texans: Brandon Harris, CB, Miami: Houston had the worst secondary in the NFL last year, and with Harris, they get a guy who many believed would be gone at this point. This could be the steal of the second round, assuming Harris does pan out. Grade: A
61. San Diego Chargers: Jonas Mouton, LB, Michigan: If anyone had the chance to watch Michigan's football team last year, they saw just how awful this unit was. Mouton was the best of the group, but still, this was a huge reach for a player that has fourth round talent. Grade: D-
62. Miami Dolphins: Daniel Thomas, RB, Kansas State: Miami needed to address their offense in this year's draft, and with the uncertainty surrounding both Ricky Williams and Ronnie Brown, this looks like it was a necessary pick here for the Dolphins. Grade: B-
63. Pittsburgh Steelers: Marcus Gilbert, OT, Florida: Gilbert was one of the main-stays on Florida's offensive line who helped pave the way for Tim Tebow and co. Pittsburgh hopes that he can do the same for Big-Ben. Grade: B
64. Green Bay Packers: Randall Cobb, WR, Kentucky: In Cobb, Green Bay gets the most versatile player in the entire draft. Cobb can add a number of new pages to the Super Bowl champs' playbook in 2011. Grade: A
