Rookie WRs Who Will Outplay Their Draft Value 📈
Comment: Ask yourself, who is the Buccaneers MVA -- Most Valuable Asset? Josh Freeman, of course. Mark Dominik has repeated this a number of times "keep Josh Freeman upright and healthy." Without Freeman, you could recycle The Fearsome Foursome or the Steel Curtain for the pass rush and it probably wouldn't matter. So don't be surprised to see an offensive tackle with the first pick. Carimi would be a long-term starter at right tackle. If not him, then Anthony Castonzo from Boston College, 6-7, 311. If either is there at 20, grab 'em.
Second Round (51st pick): Jabaal Sheard, Defensive End, Pittsburgh (6-4, 260).
Comment: When Greg Romeus went down, this guy really took over the pass rush for Pitt. Solid player who would help this team. Great fallback if the Bucs decide not to go defensive end in the first round, although Sheard might not be there at the 51st pick. If he was, grab him!
Third Round (84th pick): Bruce Carter, OLB, North Carolina (6-3, 235).
Comment: I think the Bucs are not overwhelmed by Geno Hayes. Carter could end up as a starter.
Fourth Round (116th pick): Greg Romeus, Defensive End, Pittsburgh (6-6, 270).
Comment: Don't know what his medical reports look like. And that's the key. If he was to fall this far, he's certainly a guy you'd want to take a chance on.
Fifth Round (151st pick): Greg Little, Wide Receiver, North Carolina (6-3, 220).
Comment: If he's there, he might be worth it.
Sixth Round (187th pick): Ryan Hill, Cornerback, Miami (6-0, 205).
Comment: Good value in the sixth round. Ronde has another year in him and Myron Lewis will be judged on his progress this coming season which could move the corner position to a priority in next year's draft.
Seventh Round (222nd pick): Ron Parker, Strong Safety, Newberry College (6-0, 206).
Comment: We've picked him before. His size and speed make him VERY interesting.
Seventh Round (238th pick) Evan Royster, Running Back, Penn State (5-11, 212).
Comment: Could give Kareem Huggins his walking papers.
There you have it. We'll know more starting tonight then on into Friday and Saturday. Some of these picks may be wishful thinking, the stars would have to align to make all these guys available where we've taken them.
Stay tuned.
