Toronto Blue Jays: Texas the Cure for Blue Jays Bats, Adam Lind Powers Offense
Just as it was looking bad for the Toronto Blue Jays (and just as I was writing about it), the Jays went on a road trip to Texas and it was just what their bats needed.
The Jays, excluding Jose Bautista, were scuffling at the plate and having trouble backing their pitchers up with some run support.
Apparently, all it took to ignite the offense was the hitter-friendly confines of the Rangers' ballpark and a surprise home run from veteran speedster Corey Patterson. Travis Snider had led off the fifth inning with a walk and then Yunel Escobar singled two outs later, leaving two runners on for Patterson.

Yankees Call Up 6'7" Prospect 📈
Bautista immediately followed with a solo shot, Adam Lind then walked and the struggling Juan Rivera hit his first home run as a Blue Jay right after.
That is a total of six runs scored for the Jays in the fifth inning.
They were even more impressive one day later.
The Jays started off by scoring five runs in the first inning off a series of singles and walks, then they scored two in the third and then another three in the fourth.
Lind has led the Jays so far in Texas, notching two monster home runs and five RBI in Tuesday's game. Lind has traditionally done very well in Texas and if he starts heating up now, that could mean huge things for both him and Bautista.
Bautista has been near the lead in the AL in every major offensive category except RBI. If there is no one on base ahead of him and Lind isn't hitting, then the teams will pitch around Bautista and just take the walk.
But Lind heating up in Arlington provides protection for Bautista and provides a core of success at the plate that the rest of the team can build around.
Both Kyle Drabek and Jesse Litsch pitched well enough to keep the Jays in the first two games and the hitters did the rest.
The team will be looking for Jo-Jo Reyes to do the same against Derek Holland on Wednesday as they play their third game in a four-games series.
John Farrell mentioned that Edwin Encarnacion could make his return to the lineup on Wednesday as well.
