
Brandon Roy Propels Portland Trail Blazers over Mavericks in Game 4
The Portland Trail Blazers came into tonight's game down two games to one and facing a must win contest.
For three quarters they looked like a team ready to pack their bags early. The fourth quarter was a whole different story.
Here are a few highlights of this amazing and record-breaking game that featured a 23-point comeback victory by the underdog Portland Trail Blazers.
The Chandler Effect

It is no mystery that the Dallas Mavericks are a much better team with Tyson Chandler on the floor.
Tonight, Chandler was able to stay away from foul trouble in the first half. In the third quarter, his strong defensive presence helped the Mavericks open a big lead.
Later in the third quarter, Chandler was called for a three quick controversial fouls. This eventually changed the game and allowed Portland to attack aggressively.
Chandler was limited to under 30 minutes of playing time in which he only procured six points and seven rebounds.
Three-Point Shooting

The Mavericks started the game with four three pointers in the first quarter and going into the fourth quarter, they have gone 9-for-18.
In the fourth quarter, it was a different story. Dallas only shot two for eight and only scored 15 points.
The Portland Trail Blazers were awful all game long. Even though their three-point shooting was ineffective, it was two of these baskets by Brandon Roy that led the team to a furious comeback.
The Third Quarter

With only three minutes remaining in the third quarter, the Portland Trail Blazers looked defeated, beat down, and depressed. They had missed their first 15 shots and were facing a 23-point deficit.
Dallas outscored Portland 30-14 in the quarter. Shawn Marione exploded for eight points and seven rebounds in the period and Peja Stojakvic checked in to launch and make two three-pointers.

The Fourth Quarter

A completely different story started in the fourth quarter.
The Portland Trail Blazers outscored the Dallas Mavericks 35-to-15 in the fourth. They became the first team in NBA playoff history to come back from such deficit on to win the game since the 2008 NBA Finals.

Brandon Roy was the difference maker in Game 3. Through the first three quarters of Game 4, he looked very much like he did in the first two contests: a non factor.
In the fourth quarter everything changed.
Brandon Roy scored 18 out of his 24 points in the period from everywhere on the floor.
The game-changing moment came after Brandon Roy showed flashback moved on a beautiful low post move against Jason Kidd that forced a Mavericks timeout.
The Portland Trail Blazers clearly followed Roy's lead and soon enough they were looking at a six point game with three minutes remaining.
With only a minute remaining, Roy had the biggest play of the game. His four-point play tied the game and he followed that with a bank shot int he lane to put Portland up by two with just a few seconds remaining.
Brandon Roy won this game. This victory was not only one for Portland, but also for Roy, who needed a game like this more than anyone on the court.
