Derrick Rose vs Scottie Pippen: Who Is Better?

The end of the suffering Chicago Bulls fans have endured after Jordan retired is now over, thanks in part to NBA MVP Derrick Rose's 2011 campaign.

Th Bulls have won 60 games so far and may go 62-20. This would be the greatest season the Bulls have had since Jordan's last year in 1998. 

Of course, Jordan had sidekick extraordinaire, Scottie Pippen, which makes me ask myself...who is the second greatest Chicago Bull ever, Pippen or Rose?

Defense

This one is easy—Pippen was much greater than Rose on defense in every way. 

Teamwork

Rose is the focus of the Bulls team and Pippen played a deferential role. Rose passes a lot but is a shoot-first guy and Pippen never was able to reach shoot-first status, not only because he had to pass to MJ but also because his shooting percentage wasn't as good as MJ's. 

Pippen wins the teammate battle. 

Attitude

Derrick Rose has a better attitude than Pippen did. Pippen lacked a tough attitude at first and played a finesse game that didn't always work. Jordan pushed Pippen to be tougher and he came through, but Rose doesn't need anyone to tell him to lead. Would Rose pass up the chance to win if the play were called for another player? I doubt it.

Rose wins the attitude battle.

I truly believe that Pippen's intangibles were overrated. I watched his whole career and he needed help at all times. Without MJ, I truly believe Pippen would not have been half as good. Pippen was reactionary and Rose has a fluidity in motion and perpetuality that Pippen lacked.

Rose wins.

Rose doesn't shoot a truly great percentage and neither did Pippen. People forget how bad Pippen was in so many games that MJ saved. Rose is more confident as a scorer and a little more imaginative. Rose wins. 

Intelligence

By the end of it all Pippen was a basketball wizard, after he played and learned with MJ so much. At the moment Rose seems to do it by athleticism. 

Pippen was smarter. 

Winning

Pippen is one of the biggest winners of all time with 6 for 6 titles. Rose ain't won nothing yet.

Pippen was better overall but Rose will probably pass him up one day.
