Derrick Rose Video: Watch Vintage D Rose Destroy High School Competition

Derrick Rose Video Sees Chicago Bulls Star Dominate His High School Competition

There's an up-and-coming star, and then there's the up-and-coming star.

Sure, dominating in high school is a far cry from dominating in the NBA, but anyone who has simply watched this Derrick Rose mix knew he was something special from the start.

Complete with highlight dunks aplenty, Rose shows why he was so highly coveted coming out of high school, and why he instantly had potential to be the next NBA star.

There seemed to be two options for opposing teenagers against Rose in high school: get out of the way or get a close-up look at what it's like to get dunked in the face.

It wasn't just the dunks, however. Rose shows it all: cross-over pull-up jumpers, scoop shots, one-handed swing passes and acrobatic reverse layups that bring people to their feet.

Like Kevin Garnett, Kobe Bryant and LeBron James, there are certain players in high school that dominate so thoroughly, with such variety and skill, that it's hard not to project them as quickly transitioning to the pros.

Evidenced by this video, Rose never really needed to go to the Memphis Tigers for one year to "develop his game." He had it already.

This season, Rose has led the Chicago Bulls to 60 wins with two games remaining and is the MVP candidate in just his third season.

He's been spectacular since his rookie season, but this year he took the step to the truly elite, averaging 25.1 points, 7.8 assists and 4.1 rebounds, with his defense making him one of the most complete players in the NBA.

He's scored in single digits just once this season and only appears to be getting stronger headed into the playoffs.

The scary thing is, his NBA highlight reel is starting to rival his high school one.
