NBA Trade Rumors: 10 Teams That Could Still Be in the Market for Steve Nash

Eric BowmanJun 1, 2018

Although Steve Nash is 37 years old, he still can play some great basketball. They way he commands the floor and runs his team is just spectacular.

The Suns really need to think about their future. Nash is there best trade bait at gaining young players and draft picks to rebuild this team.

With the trade deadline just one day away, here are 10 teams in no particular order that could use Steve Nash.

10. Orlando Magic

This one is a long shot but it could still happen. The Suns and Magic already had a blockbuster trade this season and who's to say they can't pull off another one.

Nash would be an upgrade over over Gilbert Arenas, even though he's much older. He would greatly improve the game of Dwight Howard as he would constantly be feeding the big man great looks.

By adding Nash, Orlando would greatly increase their chances of beating the Celtics and the Heat in the playoffs.

9. Sacramento Kings

A trade within the division is probably something the Suns or Kings don't want to do but they would both benefit from making a deal.

The Kings would finally have a shot at winning more games, and Tyreke Evans can focus on scoring instead of running the offense.

The Kings could offer up young players like DeMarcus Cousins or Carl Landry.

8. Indiana Pacers

The Pacers could center a deal around some of their younger players and expiring contracts. It is very unlikely they would trade Danny Granger, but it is possible they would move Darren Collison or T.J. Ford.

Ford is only 27 and his contract expires at the end of the year. His minutes have decreased because of Collison but Ford can still play. If given the chance to start again Ford would step his game up.

The Suns could free up cap space and get a few younger guys to begin the rebuilding process.

This was originally going to be the spot for the New Jersey Nets, but as I was finishing up they went and traded for Deron Williams.

So I thought of another losing team that needs a point guard. The Timberwolves could give up Johnny Flynn, the rights to Ricky Rubio, Sebastian Telfair, or Luke Ridnour.

Minnesota desperately needs someone to help out Kevin Love. Acquiring a star like Steve Nash would bring this losing team to a potential playoff team. Love and Nash would be a dynamic duo that would be difficult to stop.

6. Memphis Grizzlies

Zach Randolph is a free agent at the end of the year and keeping him on the team is a going to be difficult. The Grizzlies are better off trading him.

Making a deal with the Suns for Steve Nash would give Memphis some much needed help at the point guard position. They may have to part ways with Randolph or Mike Conley or even O.J. Mayo. However they would be just fine in doing so to obtain a star like Nash.

5. Dallas Mavericks

Steve Nash would love to return to his old team in Dallas. The Mavericks in a dire need of offensive help with the loss of Caron Butler.

While they are looking more towards trading for a forward, it would be smart to at least think about Nash. He is an upgrade from Jason Kidd and will provide this team with a lot of energy.

4. Houston Rockets

The Rockets need help all over the court. They would love for anyone to take on the contract of Yao Ming but no team in their right mind is going to make that deal.

Trading for Nash would give the Rockets a much better shot at the playoffs. They're currently in 12th place in the Western Conference but only five games back from the last playoff spot.

Houston could package a deal around Aaron Brooks, Courtney Lee or Shane Battier to try and get Nash away from Phoenix.

3. Portland Trail Blazers

Portland is currently in seventh place in the Western Conference. They have a few players they would like to trade, so they can reshape their team within a year or two. If they don't make any moves this club could surprise some people in the playoffs.

However, Portland could really turn some heads if they make a deal for Steve Nash. The Trail Blazers are trying to move players such as Marcus Camby, Andre Miller, and Joel Pryzbilla. Phoenix could also try to get Rudy Fernandez in a deal for Steve Nash.

2. Atlanta Hawks

NEW ORLEANS, LA - DECEMBER 26: Mike Bibby #10 of the Atlanta Hawks calls a play during the game against the New Orleans Hornets at the New Orleans Arena on December 26, 2010 in New Orleans, Louisiana. The Hornets defeated the Hawks 93-86. NOTE TO USER:

Mike Bibby has been playing well for Atlanta, but the Hawks desperately need improvement at the point guard position.

Trading for Steve Nash would make the Hawks a threat in the postseason. Most people view this team as a team that will lose in the first round. However, if they had Steve Nash running the point for them teams would take them seriously.

Atlanta could make a deal here and still keep Josh Smith. They would have to part ways with Bibby and either Jamal Crawford (who's contract is up at the end of year) or Marvin Williams.

1. Los Angeles Lakers

The Lakers would be even more of a lock for a three-peat if they could somehow get Steve Nash. Derrick Fisher and Steve Blake are not the best of point guards. One of them would be in this deal as well as Shannon Brown.

Phoenix probably doesn't want to do an in-division trade, but if the right deal comes along sometimes you have to forget about which team you're dealing with. Brown could be paired up with some role players and draft picks to make this deal possible. I know it's very unlikely to happen but the Lakers need to do something to get better.
