Carmelo Anthony Trade: Thank Goodness It Finally Happened!

Kelsey AlumbaughFeb 22, 2011

Carmelo Anthony was finally traded to the New York Knicks in an 11-player deal that took place today between the Knicks, the Minnesota Timberwolves and the Denver Nuggets.

The deal was agreed upon Monday night, but won't be finalized until all of the players pass their physicals.

In an interview with ESPN's Colleen Dominguez, Anthony said that his ultimate dream would be to play in New York.

The deal that Anthony was purportedly given was a three-year, $65 million contract extension.

Anthony will wear the No. 7 for the Knicks, according to CNBC's Darren Rovell. Number 15, which was the number Anthony wore in Denver, has been retired for Earl Monroe and Dick McGuire.

Other players included in the deal that are going to the Knicks are Chauncey Billups, Sheldon Williams, Anthony Carter and Reynaldo Balkman.

According to Kevin Garrity of NY1, the Knicks are hoping to have all the players in New York tonight for physicals and they want Anthony on the roster for tomorrow night's game against the Milwaukee Bucks.

It will be interesting to see Anthony and Amare Stoudemire play together. They are both strong offensive players that will hopefully work well together.
