MLB Daily Market Update: Season Winding Down
Moving Today's Market
Teams are changing pitchers and resting starters as many of the playoff spots have been decided. Tampa failed to clinch the AL East this afternoon, but Boston is still resting David Ortiz. If Arizona loses this afternoon, the Dodgers will clinch the NL West, and Joe Torre is prepared to rest many of his lineup mainstays against Padres ace Jake Peavy. Greg Maddux and the Dodgers opened as -129 favorites at Pinnacle, but have since dropped to -108 favorites. The Padres are drawing only 58% of the public moneyline bets. The movement has triggered multiple Steam Plays on the Padres from Pinnacle. The Yankees have been eliminated from the playoffs and plan to rest many of their starters against Jays ace Roy Halladay. Toronto opened at Pinnacle as -179 favorites, and the line has moved to its current spot with the Jays as -185 favorites while receiving 62% of moneyline bets. .
