NBA Three-Point Contest: Live Blog
Hey everyone, sorry for being late. Work was absolute hell, and it was supposed to be a three-day weekend but anyway.
We have Ray Allen up and ready to go.
Ray Allen did a very nice job! Very smooth stroke and hit 20.
Daniel Gibson is probably done. Just like in real games didn't hit enough shots and is now going to be relegated to the bench.
Kevin Durant had a terrible showing! He switched up his stroke, and he almost air balled the last one! Durant, barring a miracle, won't be advancing.
Dorell Wright had a decent showing; he is going to be advancing. He looked like he had his more natural stroke out there.
Up next, we have the reigning champion in Paul Pierce, and he barely avoids elimination! Hitting the last three, and he will advance to the next round.
I really wish I was able to get here on time so I could have gave predictions and such, but now if I do, then I'll just look like i'm cheating. But for those who care, I was going with Ray Allen over Dorell Wright.
Paul Pierce starts off the second round, and he hit three of five money balls and gets 18 points. That is going to be a very tough score to beat.
I'm a little sad Dorell Wright is out.
Poor James Jones now has to hit 19, and he hits 4-of-5 money balls and jumps Pierce into the lead!
Ray Allen went cold late on the shooting, and James Jones ends up winning it with a killer last round.
I really didn't think it would go that way, but James Jones really got it going and gets a nice big trophy. I'd probably saw the top off that thing and turn it into some sort dip or chip bowl.
I also really miss having it go from eight shooters to four and the champion is declared after the final two shoot. I mean that whole thing only took about 25 minutes. Add two more shooters and one round and we're looking another 10 to 15 minutes tops. It's really sad that things have been so compressed.
What do you all think? Go back to eight shooters and one more round?
