MLB Daily Market Wrap Up
Moving Today's Market There is only one playoff spot left in the American League after the Red Sox clinched Tuesday night, and the two teams in the race play against one another in the second of their three-game series. The White Sox are 1 1/2 games ahead of the Twins as they head into tonight's game in Minnesota. The White Sox send Mark Buehrle (14-11, 3.87 ERA) to the mound against the Twins and rookie Nick Blackburn (10-10, 4.15 ERA). Minnesota opened as -109 at Pinnacle and is currently at -123. The significant movement in the line came from two Steam moves triggered at sportsbooks monitored by Sports Insights, including one alert at Pinnacle (+19.22 units). The public has put slightly more action on the Twins at 54%, despite the Twins' starting rotation possibly being fatigued from a long season. For example Blackburn lasted just 1 1/3 innings against the Rays in his last start, and has already passed his career high in innings pitched. On three days rest, C.C. Sabathia (15-10, 2.85 ERA) starts for the Brewers against the Pirates in hopes of catching the Mets in the NL Wild Card race. This is the second straight start Sabathia will be working on short rest, and don't be surprised if the he starts Sunday if Milwaukee is still in contention. In his last start he surrendered four runs, three unearned, in five-plus innings pitched. In two outings against the Pirates this season, Sabathia has allowed just one run on 15 innings pitched. Pinnacle opened with the Brewers at -300, and has since decreased to -275. The line is decreasing, but 77% of the bets are on the Brewers so this is an excellent indication of Smart money moves on the Pirates. CRIS (+46.29 units) and TradeSports (+15.13 units) were two sportsbooks that triggered Smart money alerts on Pittsburgh.
