Ohtani, Skubal, Dodgers Clinch 2026 MLB Playoff Berth, Updated Bracket Picture and Standings

The Los Angeles Dodgers are heading to the playoffs for the 14th consecutive season.

Los Angeles clinched its postseason berth on Monday with a 4-1 win over the Cincinnati Reds.

The 14 consecutive playoff appearances for the Dodgers ties the Atlanta Braves from 1991 to 2005 for the longest streak in MLB history.

Even though the Dodgers are cruising toward another NL West title, it has felt at times like the journey to get there has been a lot bumpier than in past years.

Their two big free-agent signings last offseason were Kyle Tucker and Edwin Díaz. Both players are in the midst of the worst season of their respective careers. Will Smith is also having his worst offensive season.

Shohei Ohtani is still having an elite offensive year, but it's the worst year he has had since signing with the Dodgers. Injuries have also kept him from pitching since July 3.

Blake Snell, Tyler Glasnow and Roki Sasaki all missed time due to injuries. Despite all of these issues piling up throughout the year, the Dodgers still own a commanding division lead.

They also supplemented their roster during the season, most notably on Aug. 2 when they acquired Tarik Skubal from the Detroit Tigers to shore up a pitching staff that was already loaded going into October after Snell and Glasnow returned.

Yoshinobu Yamamoto followed up his 2025 World Series MVP performance by putting together a Cy Young-caliber season in 2026. Freddie Freeman and Max Muncy remain their usual strong, steady selves in the heart of the lineup.

The Dodgers are going to enter the playoffs heavily favored to win the World Series for the third consecutive year. No team has pulled off a three-peat since the New York Yankees from 1998 to 2000.

The 2026 MLB playoffs begin with the wild card round on Sept. 29, followed by the division series starting Oct. 3.
