NBA Trade Rumors: 10 Teams That Could Deal for Chris Kaman
NBA Trade Rumors: Which Teams Could Use The Clippers Big Man?
Chris Kaman had a great 2010 season where he made the All Star team. However, after a dealing with injuries this season he has not made much of an impact.
The Clippers are now apparently looking to move their seven-footer. Here are ten possible landing spots for the big guy.
Would you want Kaman on your team? Let us know.
10. Portland Trail Blazers
1 of 10
The Blazer have had some extremely bad luck with centers over the course of their history. Just think of Sam Bowie and Greg Oden.
Because of some injuries at the center position they have a need that to fill. Chris Kaman could help be a nice compliment to LaMarcus Aldridge.
Blazers get:
Chris Kaman
Ryan Gomes
Clippers get:
Joel Pryzbilla
Greg Oden
The Clippers get two expiring contracts in Pryzbilla and Oden and the Blazers get Kaman and a skilled complimentary win in Gomes.
9. Golden State Warriors
2 of 10
The Warriors have a roster with some good young guard talent but they need a guy down low that can not only defend the post but who can also score and rebound.
When Chris Kaman is healthy he could be a 20 point and 10 rebound guy. He could be a really nice addition to the Warriors.
Warriors get:
Chris Kaman
Clippers get:
Vlad Radmanovic
Charlie Bell
The Warriors get Kaman for a rather cheap price. Radmanovic's contract is expiring and Bell could be a nice back up for Eric Gordon.
8. Houston Rockets
3 of 10
The Rockets have not lived up to any preseason hype mostly because of the fact that Yao Ming went down early with an injury that might end his career.
Despite the fact that the Rockets are pretty low in the standings, they could make a move with Chris Kaman in the middle.
Rockets get:
Chris Kaman
Al-Farouq Aminu
Clippers get:
Shane Battier
Jared Jefferies
I know that the Rockets would probably prefer to hang onto Battier but the Clippers would include promising rookie Aminu to sweeten the deal.
Battier would be a nice defensive addition to a Clippers team needing leadership.
7. New York Knicks
4 of 10
With each passing day the Knicks are less likely to get Carmelo Anthony but if New York is going to make a move in the standings they need to shake up their roster.
Kaman could be a legitimate center to play along side Amare Stoudemire.
Knicks get:
Chris Kaman
Al-Farouq Aminu
Clippers get:
Wilson Chandler
Eddy Curry
The Clippers get Eddy Curry's fat expiring contract plus a rental, with an option to buy Wilson Chandler. If Chandler looks good for the Clippers they could make a nice play for him to stick in free agency.
6. New Orleans Hornets
5 of 10
The Hornets have faltered a little bit after a strong start to the 2010-11 season. They have some nice players on the team that have over performed and some that have under performed.
Adding Chris Kaman would give the Hornets a new persona. The added length paired with Emeka Okefor and David West would allow them to overwhelm teams down low.
Hornets get:
Chris Kaman
Clippers get:
Trevor Ariza
Marcus Banks
I know this trade sounds unfair but Ariza has not been that good this year and the Hornets haven't relied on him very much. The Clippers could get more use out of an athletic wing that plays good defense.
5. Cleveland Cavaliers
6 of 10
Let's face it, the Cleveland Cavaliers are in bad, bad shape. No single trade could make up for that fact. However, the Cavs are looking to make some moves.
They could use Chris Kaman as a big man to build their roster around.
Cavaliers get:
Chris Kaman
Clippers get:
Antawn Jamison
Now I know what you are thinking. Why would the Cavs trade their best player when they are trying to get better? However, their best attempt at rebuilding would be through the draft and if they ditch Jamision it would assuredly give them a better chance at a high pick.
4. Detroit Pistons
7 of 10
The Pistons are going through a bit of transition this season. They do still have some of their older players on the roster, but they are starting to rely more on their younger players.
Chris Kaman could give the Pistons a nice center to help rebuild the roster.
Pistons get:
Chris Kaman
Clippers get:
Tayshaun Prince
Prince is a big expiring contract piece. He has slowed down quite a bit but he could still help out the Clippers quite a bit. He would also be playing in his hometown which would be nice for him.
3. Miami Heat
8 of 10
The Miami Heats' biggest flaw is their lack of depth inside. Although that sounds like a tough thing to overcome, they apparently don't really need much more depth in the front court.
The real trouble in making a deal happen is the fact that most of the players on the Heat are signed for very cheap contracts to make space for their big three.
Heat get:
Chris Kaman
Clippers get:
TBD
The reason I say TBD for the Clippers is because there are a few pieces that could become available after they have been on the roster for a few more weeks. Those pieces would be essential to making a deal happen.
2. Chicago Bulls
9 of 10
The Chicago Bulls already have some good front court players in Joakim Noah and Carlos Boozer but adding Chris Kaman would give them an outstanding amount of depth down low.
Kaman could help the Bulls really matchup with the Celtics in the playoffs.
Bulls get:
Chris Kaman
Clippers get:
Ronnie Brewer
Kyle Korver
The Clippers get some good value at guard that would give them some very good depth.
1. Oklahoma City Thunder
10 of 10
The Thunder are one of the up and coming teams in the Western Conference but they still have a glaring need in the front court.
Chris Kaman would be a nice upgrade over Nenad Kristic.
Thunder get:
Chris Kaman
First round pick
Clippers get:
Morris Peterson
Jeff Green
I know that giving up Green would be a tough thing for the Thunder to cope with, but the rumors are that he is already being shopped by the Thunder. The Clips justify the move by throwing in their first round pick this year.
