Arron Afflalo Video: Watch Afflalo's Buzzer Beater Against the Dallas Mavericks
Arron Afflalo stunned the Mavericks and sent Dallas home with another loss.
This Afflalo video shows a thrilling end to a great Western Conference showdown.
With less than 20 seconds remaining on the clock, Denver trailed at home, 120-119, to the Mavs, a team that was on the rise after a terrible stretch.
As the clock neared triple zeros, Nuggets point guard Chauncey Billups finally gave up trying to find an opening near the basket and dished the ball to the wing, where Arron Affalo was hovering around the three-point line.
Afflalo, who is averaging better than 13 points per game, dribbled towards the hole, pulled up and nailed a 19-footer at the buzzer to give Denver the win.
"I've hit some big shots before, but never have I made the game-winner at the buzzer," said Afflalo.
Afflalo finished the game with 24 points, tossing in 19 during a fourth quarter in which the Nuggets overcame a deficit as high as 12.
One of the reasons why Afflalo tossed up the game-winner: Carmelo Anthony, who dropped 42 points on 17-of-25 shooting, had fouled out just a few seconds earlier.
"If Melo was in the game, we were going to stick him in the corner and see if we could get the pick and roll with Chauncey and Nene [Hilario]," George Karl, Denver's coach said, "but we had to change positions and put Arron down there."
The Nuggets, who lead the NBA in points per game, had lost three of four coming into the Thursday night's game. That win also snapped the Mavericks 10-game winning streak.
Dallas had previously lost seven of eight games while their star, Dirk Nowitzki, was out then returning from an injury.
