Cleveland Cavaliers Not Looking So Great
The Cleveland Cavaliers sank to a new low last night, setting the NBA record for a single season losing streak at 24.
What’s more embarrassing: a team losing 24 games in a row, or Dan Gilbert’s hissy-fit open letter to the public guaranteeing the Cavaliers would win a championship before LeBron James’ Dwayne Wade’s Miami Heat?
Somehow, the Cavaliers have a few quality wins to their name: opening night vs. Boston, a close win over a good Memphis team, an OT win against the Knicks. But then there’s the nationally televised trouncing at the hands of LeBron. There’s a 34-point beatdown to K. Love and Special Sauce (Timberwolves, obviously). And, of course, a 55-point loss to the Lakers (On the bright side, Alonzo Gee had 12 points and eight rebounds).
Looking forward, the Cavaliers will almost assuredly make it a quarter-century with a loss to the Mavericks on Monday. Hope will emerge (only to likely be dashed) when the Cavs begin an eight-game home-stand with three straight versus the Pistons, Clippers, and Wizards (all winnable games).
Lesson learned, Dan Gilbert: Think before you Comic Sans.
