Derrick Rose and the Chicago Bulls' Reassuring Situation
Derrick Rose crosses the dim lit tunnel all the way to the bright lights of the United Center Arena in Chicago. His teammates are moving together with him as they approach the loud cheers and praises of the home town crowd.
It was always Rose’s dream to walk where the Michael Jordan-led Bulls have gone through. Those championships, the MVP awards and the celebrations—it all came through this tunnel. It seems to be the first step before enduring the bright lights of the arena. Everybody goes through here.
The road to the NBA Championship is quite special. It is a narrow path and only a few get to see its rewards. Rose knew it would take a lot of sacrifice and frustration before he got to hold that golden Larry O’Brien trophy. There are no shortcuts and no easy pass. Winning a championship will take a lot of hard work and maturity. It took Michael Jordan years before he won his first title. Nonetheless, Rose is just glad they are on the right direction.
With all the talk about Lebron James joining the Chicago Bulls last summer, or Dwayne Wade, Rose just stayed passive about the situation. A player with such an amazing ability alongside Lebron or Wade could surely give the Bulls a needed lift. However, he didn’t want to keep his hopes high considering that everything is always all about money. He wanted dedication and commitment. If they believed in the organization then you don’t have to sell yourself too much to them. Basketball is still a team game. No two or three superstars could win a championship alone.
Derrick Rose knows before the bright lights, everything passes through the dim lit portion. There are no shortcuts and no easy pass. However, what is reassuring is that every time Rose looks back or looks forward to he has his teammates with him. It’s good to know they all went in the same direction.
They got his back and Rose has definitely got Chicago behind him.
