NBA Trade Rumors: 10 Possible Destinations for Gerald Wallace
NBA trade rumors are flying fast and furious as we get near the All-Star break, and one guy who has been talked about is Gerald Wallace.
There was a report not too long ago that everyone in Charlotte was on the block and could be had in a possible deal. Gerald Wallace is a guy that could be had and would be a very intriguing option for teams out there.
Here are 10 teams that could make a deal for him, and if you have any thoughts or comments, make sure to leave them below.
No. 10: New York Knicks
1 of 10
The Knicks are scouring the trade market, and even though it seems like they're waiting around for Carmelo Anthony, you never know.
Wallace would be the swingman the Knicks are looking for and would be cheaper than Anthony. It's not likely with how it seems like Anthony and the Knicks are destined to be together one way or another, but if the Knicks get desperate, crazier things have happened.
New York is on the fringe in terms of destinations.
No. 9: Cleveland Cavaliers
2 of 10
The Cleveland Cavaliers have to do something, right?
Cleveland is floundering right now, and the Cavs have to make a splash somewhere to get some energy in this team. Gerald Wallace could work there and give the team the shot in the arm it needs to beat someone, anyone at this point.
With Antwan Jamison possibly retiring at the end of the season, Wallace could slide right into his role.
No. 8: Philadelphia 76ers
3 of 10
The Sixers have thought about moving Andre Iguodala, and Charlotte could be an option with Gerald Wallace coming back.
Philadelphia would need a swingman to replace Iguodala, and Wallace would fit in nicely with the young nucleus the Sixers are building with Jrue Holiday, Evan Turner and company. The Sixers are playing better right now, and a guy like Wallace would be a nice addition.
It will be interesting to see what Philly does with Iguodala.
No. 7: Portland Trail Blazers
4 of 10
With Brandon Roy's career likely to never be the same, the Blazers need a guy to be the dominant scorer while dominating the ball.
LaMarcus Aldridge has been great this year, but Wallace would be a great pickup for Portland. He would be a guy to replace Roy, and there would be less pressure on guys like Nicolas Batum in the lineup. The Blazers are on the fringe of the playoff picture, and he could help the Blazers make a run.
It's an interesting scenario to say the least.
No. 6: Los Angeles Clippers
5 of 10
With Eric Gordon out a couple of weeks, the Clippers may want to make a move to strengthen a young team that's getting better.
Los Angeles isn't what you'd call stacked at the small forward position, but the Clippers do have Al-Farouq Aminu and Ryan Gomes at the position. Gerald Wallace would be an instant upgrade over what's on the roster.
Wallace with Blake Griffin and Baron Davis would be pretty interesting.
No. 5: Utah Jazz
6 of 10
The Utah Jazz are struggling now, and it's getting ugly.
Whispers have started around Andrei Kirilenko, and his contract might be appealing to some teams out there. If Charlotte is looking to shed some salary, moving Gerald Wallace would help the cap number and give Utah a good swingman.
That deal works for everyone if you put the right pieces together.
No. 4: New Jersey Nets
7 of 10
Now that New Jersey is out on Carmelo Anthony, Gerald Wallace could be an option.
He's a great swingman, and while he's not a superstar of Anthony's ilk, he could be a great pickup for a team like New Jersey. Wallace won't give them an identity, but he'll make them a better basketball team, and that's all that matters.
Wallace would be a nice fit in New Jersey.
No. 3: Indiana Pacers
8 of 10
The Pacers are evidently looking to pick up a key player at the deadline, and that makes Gerald Wallace a possibility.
Indiana may or may not move Danny Granger, but they would likely have to in order to grab Wallace and free up the roster room for him. However, if they didn't, it would be an interesting dynamic for the Pacers, or possibly a troublesome one.
Either way, those could be some interesting negotiations.
No. 2: Houston Rockets
9 of 10
The Houston Rockets are on the outside of the playoff picture looking in, and Gerald Wallace may help that fortune.
Houston could use a swingman and could be ready to try and make a push for Carmelo Anthony as a rental for half of a season. Wallace could be had cheaper and could be affective in Houston with the options on that team.
The Rockets would have a nice little roster if they got Wallace.
No. 1: Dallas Mavericks
10 of 10
With Caron Butler lost for the year, Dallas desperately needs someone to fill his spot in the lineup.
The Mavericks are another team possibly on the edge of trade talks for Carmelo Anthony, but Gerald Wallace would be a good fit in the lineup and do a lot of the same things that Butler did for Dallas before his injury.
Dallas isn't afraid to make a move, and Mark Cuban will pull the trigger if the right deal comes along.
