NBA Trade Rumors: Carmelo Anthony, Chris Kaman and the Latest NBA Trade Buzz
The NBA trade deadline is just over a month away, and as of now, Carmelo Anthony is still a Denver Nugget, Chris Kaman is still on the Los Angeles Clippers and Andre Iguodala is still playing for the 76ers.
The only major trade in the NBA thus far this season was the mega deal between Orlando, Washington and Phoenix. But everyone who follows the NBA has been waiting patiently for this Carmelo Anthony deal to finally get done.
These trade rumors that you have heard so much about could very well begin to take form and get finished within the next couple of weeks.
Lets take a look at 10 potential trade rumors that could get done before the Feb. 24 NBA trade deadline.
10. Chris Kaman for Tayshaun Prince
1 of 10
Both of these guys have been hot names in the NBA trade rumors this season.
The Pistons desperately need help at the center position. They do not have one seven-foot player on their roster. They are clearly in a rebuilding mode, and adding a big man like Kaman, who went to college at Central Michigan, would be a nice fit for Joe Dumars' club.
The Clippers aren't any better than the Pistons. They are in a rebuilding mode, but they have two young budding superstars in Eric Gordon and Blake Griffin. DeAndre Jordan has shown promise this season, which makes Kaman more expendable.
This is a deal that could benefit both teams' needs and could be a legitimate possibility.
9. Devin Harris and Anthony Morrow for Marcus Camby and Andre Miller
2 of 10
Rumors have been flying around the NBA that the Portland Trailblazers are looking to make a move and potentially get younger at the point guard position.
The New Jersey Nets and Denver Nuggets are still trying to iron out this deal that would send Carmelo Anthony to New Jersey. Just in case you haven't heard.
One of the names that might be involved in this trade would be New Jersey guard Devin Harris. The possibility here is that Harris would be sent to Denver, but then immediately traded to Portland for a package that would include Camby and Miller.
Miller's contract has a team option for next season that Denver would likely decline, which is why this deal is a possibility. Anthony Morrow is on the trade block and would be the final piece that could make this deal happen.
8. Anthony Randolph for Sebastian Telfair and First Round Draft Pick
3 of 10
This deal is all about the New York Knicks obtaining the necessary pieces in order to complete a deal with Denver for Carmelo Anthony.
The Knicks need to have more ammunition in order to make this deal happen, and getting a first round draft pick will certainly help their chances.
Apparently, the Timberwolves have been interested in Randolph for some time now, but the Knicks have not wanted to give him up. Well, that has all changed as of late, especially after Randolph's agent told the Knicks that his client is going to demand a trade.
Doing this deal would give the Knicks that first round draft pick and Telfair, who has an expiring contract, which would give New York more cap room if they hope to sign Carmelo as a free agent.
7. Gerald Wallace and Steven Jackson for Andre Iguodala and Lou Williams
4 of 10
Both of these teams are looking to make a move, and all four of these players have been hot names on the trade block.
Charlotte might want to get another piece in return if this deal is going to happen, because both Wallace and Jackson are very good NBA players. It is possible that Phili could throw in Marreese Speights, but they appear to be very high on his potential, which might stop them from including him in the deal.
Either way, this deal moves Iguodala out of Phili and gives the 76ers some nice additional pieces to fill into their roster.
6. Denver Nuggets and New Jersey Nets Multi-Player Trade
5 of 10
This deal would have the Denver Nuggets sending Carmelo Anthony, Chauncey Billups and Renaldo Balkman to New Jersey for Derrick Favors, Devin Harris, Anthony Morrow and 2011 and 2012 first round draft picks.
This is the basic makings of what the original Nuggets-Nets trade looked like. If these two teams are unable to add a third team in the mix, then this is what the deal would have to look like in order for the Nuggets to even consider it.
This trade isn't all that likely, because if it was, it would have been done already. But like I said, if Carmelo is going to go to the Nets without a third team involved, this is it right here.
5. Portland Trail Blazers and Charlotte Bobcats Multi-Player Trade
6 of 10
This multi-player deal would look something like this:
Portland sends Marcus Camby, Andre Miller and Rudy Fernandez to Charlotte for Gerald Wallace, D.J. Augustin and DeSagana Diop.
Brandon Roy is the franchise of the Trail Blazers and rumors have been flying around that he is not happy playing alongside Miller in the backcourt. This trade would give the Blazers a young, budding point guard in Augustin and an All-Star quality player in Wallace.
While on paper this trade looks as if the Bobcats give up a lot more, they don't jeopardize any long-term financial flexibility with the deal. Camby's contract is up after this season, and Miller has a team option on his contract next season.
This type of deal has been talked about for a while now and could happen any day.
4. Philadelphia 76ers and Cleveland Cavaliers Mulit-Player Trade
7 of 10
This has been a hot rumor as of late, and here is what this trade could look like if it comes to a head.
Cleveland sends Mo Williams and J.J. Hickson to Philadelphia for Andre Iguodala, Lou Williams and Marreese Speights.
The Cavaliers are the worst team in the NBA right now. They have been desperately searching for an answer on the offensive end since the departure of LeBron James. While Iguodala is by no means comparable to LeBron, he is a good scoring option and much better than any other player the Cavs have on their roster right now.
3. Memphis Grizzlies and Charlotte Bobcats Multi-Player Trade
8 of 10
The trade talks in Memphis have been a big conversation piece all season long, and even more so after that altercation between O.J. Mayo and Tony Allen.
This trade would send Mayo, Hasheem Thabeet and Darrell Arthur to Charlotte for Gerald Wallace and the Bobcats' first round draft pick.
Wallace has been a hot name in trade rumors, and this trade would probably be the most likely of any of them. The Grizzlies are all but done with Thabeet and would like to move him while he has any value to his name. They would get a first round draft pick in return, which would make getting rid of Mayo less painful.
This is a deal that could very well get done. If not with these exact players, Mayo and Wallace will be included regardless.
2. New Jersey Nets, Detroit Pistons and Denver Nuggets Multi-Player Trade
9 of 10
This is the deal that has been in the makings for weeks now, and still, nothing has come of it.
If the deal is going to happen, here is the gist of what it is going to look like: New Jersey receives Carmelo Anthony, Chauncey Billups and Richard Hamilton, Denver receives Derrick Favors, Devin Harris, Anthony Morrow and two first round draft picks and Detroit receives Troy Murphy and Johan Petro.
The key to this deal is whether or not Anthony would sign this three-year, $65 million extension with the Nets. On one hand, this gets Anthony out of Denver, and he has to like the idea that the Nets are planning on moving to Brooklyn down the road.
On the other hand, numerous reports have Anthony not being sold on the move, and still pondering the idea of playing for New Jersey and the future of that franchise.
People who follow the NBA are getting sick of hearing about this deal and how close it is to getting done. It has been "close" now for two weeks. Either it gets done or it doesn't. Carmelo, do everyone a favor and say yes or no. Now would be nice.
1. New York Knicks and Denver Nuggets Multi-Team Trade
10 of 10
The bottom line here is that Carmelo Anthony wants to play for the New York Knicks. But, with the way it stands right now, the Knicks do not have enough ammunition to give the Nuggets in return for Carmelo.
So, what does that mean?
The Knicks are well aware of the situation, and they are going to do whatever they can to get Carmelo in the orange and blue. Here is the plan.
The Knicks trade Anthony Randolph to Minnesota for a first round draft pick, which will likely be a lottery pick. Then, the Knicks trade Wilson Chandler, Danilo Gallinari, Landry Fields and that first-round pick to Denver for Carmelo Anthony and Renaldo Balkman.
This is what it is going to take to get Carmelo in New York this season. Now the question is, does this really make the Knicks all that much better?
Let the debate begin...
