Carmelo Anthony Trade Rumors: How Will Rumored Megadeal Affect Detroit Pistons?
The Detroit Pistons have emerged in what seems to be a mega-deal that would involve the trading of Carmelo Anthony to the New Jersey Nets.
This trade is seeming as if it could end up being a reality, but would it be a good deal for the Pistons?
The Pistons would be giving away a few players that have been the face of their franchise.
Here is how the rumored trade would affect the Pistons.
Lose Richard Hamilton
1 of 8
Hamilton has been with the team since the 2002 season and has been the face of the franchise for a few years now.
He is starting to not be liked by the fans, and it's time to get rid of him in a respectful way.
Hamilton is averaging 13.2 points per game this season, his lowest average since his rookie year.
Hamilton needs traded and this would be a great opportunity to get rid of him.
Receive Johan Petro

In return for Hamilton, they would get a big man that could compliment Wallace in the post in Johan Petro, the five-year, 7-foot veteran out of France.
Petro would help the team in rebounding, a category in which they need significant improvement, and he would put less of a load on the aging Wallace.
Petro hasn't had great stats this season, but he has been a role player and could help Detroit if he was given significant minutes.
Receive Troy Murphy

The Pistons will be stocking up on big men, as they will also receive Troy Murphy. Murphy is a power forward and veteran out of Notre Dame.
He is not receiving many minutes this season, but could make an impact if given a chance to in the future.
He could further help that rebounding problem, as well as extending the court with his size and shooting.
Get A Second-Round Pick From The New Jersey Nets
4 of 8
The Pistons would also receive a pick from the Nets that could be used to further their arsenal.
Detroit really needs to rebuild with some younger players to establish themselves as a great franchise again.
Having a young team is always rough for a few years, but it shows its benefits a few years down the road.
Help The Rebounding
5 of 8
As I have emphasized throughout this article, it will help the Pistons with their frequent struggles of rebounding the basketball.
The Pistons rank second to last in rebounds per game, averaging only 38 per game and allowing their opponent 41 per game.
These acquisitions that Detroit will be getting will definitely help their team with this, as it will add size to the post and build the interior.
Give Wallace a Rest
6 of 8
Wallace is averaging 23 minutes per game this year, and is not being very productive at the center spot.
He is only averaging 6.5 rebounds per game and is showing the signs of 14 years playing in the NBA.
It is time for Wallace to play more of a supporting role on the Pistons' offense.
A Chance to Get an Underrated College Player

The Pistons are going to have a chance to load up in this season's draft.
The Nets, who are not performing great, will be trading them their second-round pick, as well as having their own set of draft picks which will be great picks due to the fact that the Pistons are 12-25 on the season.
They will have the opportunity to use the Nets' pick as an opportunity to further their arsenal to develop a great team.
A Change
8 of 8
The Pistons have been basically the same team since the beginning of the millennium; it's time for a change of philosophy and for them to draw in bigger names.
With a new arena reportedly on the way, it's time for the Pistons to change their image and establish themselves once again as an elite.
