NFL Draft 2011: How the Final Week Affected Who Teams Will Draft

Andrew RobesonJun 2, 2018

Just yesterday I published a mock draft, which can be read here, but of course Sunday messed it all up.

Teams moved all over the place, and of course that will affect who gets taken and where.

So now I'm set with the task of revising the mock draft with the teams that are in the top 20 positions. But rather than tell you about all the teams who will likely draft the same player despite their change in position, I'm going to make it easy and just tell you the ones that are likely to change.

17. New England Patriots

Previous: Brandon Harris, CB Miami

Current: Travis Lewis, OLB Oklahoma

I changed this pick for two reasons. First, it doesn't look like Harris is going to the draft in 2011 as he has said he is returning to Miami. Second, with the Rams moving up in the draft I doubt they will take Lewis, which would leave him available for the Patriots. Lewis played on a great defense in college and recorded two sacks and three interceptions in 2010. With some work on the Patriots, he could be a great NFL player.

15. Miami Dolphins

Previous pick: Mark Ingram, RB Alabama

Current pick: Jake Locker, QB Washington

With Seattle dropping out of the first 20 picks by advancing to the playoffs, that means it is likely an additional quarterback will be available when the Dolphins draft. Quarterback is the Dolphins biggest need, and Locker will likely be the best available one at this spot. This pick will really depends on Locker's pre-draft workouts. Otherwise the Dolphins will likely play it safe and draft Ingram or another solid running back.

14. St. Louis

Previous pick: Travis Lewis, OLB Oklahoma

Current pick: Ryan Kerrigan, DE Purdue

The Rams will more than likely be taking the best defensive player on the board when they draft. Now that projects to be Kerrigan who had 12.5 sacks this season while recording 26 tackles for loss while playing in the tough Big 10.

Previous pick: Ryan Kerrigan, DE Purdue

Current pick: Stephen Paea, DT California

Well to put it simply, the Redskins need a defensive tackle if Albert Haynesworth departs the team as is predicted. Facing some of the nation's best offenses Paea managed seven sacks and 11 tackles for loss. He should start immediately for Washington.

8. Tennessee Titans

Previous pick: Stephen Paea, DT California

Current pick: Akeem Ayers, OLB/DE UCLA

Ayers is an extremely athletic hybrid defensive player out of UCLA who could immediately help the Titans on defense. In 2010 he had four sacks and two interceptions, and is known to be great in coverage. In 2009 he recorded four interceptions. The Titans would have an immediate need for him.
