NBA All-Star Balloting Notes
Time to start voting for you all-star picks (go to NBA.com).
Question: will LeBron start for the East, or is this the year that we find out just how stupid and undeserving NBA "fans" are?
Controversial: The starting shooting guard for the West should be Manu Ginobili, not Kobe Bryant. I know that will not happen, but I say to you, look at what's in front of you, don't go by the idea that's in your head.
Perceptions always run behind the reality. The Spurs have the best record in the NBA. How do you think they got there? Wouldn't it be pretty strange if the team with the best record had no starters in the All-Star game?
Needs to be Fixed: The NBA has left us with a pretty sorry collection of Western centers to vote for. Nene is probably the best available, but no, he should not start.
News flash to the NBA: Pau Gasol has been the starting center for the Lakers all season so far. He should start at center for the West and not split votes at power forward with Dirk. Also, Tim Duncan plays center, folks. Get used to it. He should be the reserve at center for the West.
Lastly, I know that Blake Griffin and Kevin Love will get some votes, but should they? Last season, when Andre Blatche was putting up big numbers for the Wizards towards the end, when the Wizards lineup had been blown up and they were like a million games out of the playoffs, I heard Doug Collins compare Blatche's production to the stuff someone might have picked up at a looting.
Yeah, he got the same 40" flat screen TV that you have, but is it really the same? Griffin and Love are good, don't get me wrong, but how intent on boxing them out are their opponents in games where the lead is 20 by halftime? So Griffin gets another highlight reel, putback dunk. If I'm on the other team, I take the win and keep moving.
I think Griffin and Love down the road will either improve their teams or get traded, but I don't think these guys from basement-level teams are all-stars this year.
