NBA Trade Rumors, 'Melo Not Included: Steve Nash and 10 Guys In New Cities Soon
It seems like Carmelo Anthony is all people talk about these days: Why won't the Denver Nuggets just trade him already? Will he go to New York? Will he go to New Jersey? The list goes on and on.
Hiding in the shadow of this whole debacle is the rest of the NBA trade market, which has been very active (especially since Orlando's big blockbuster trade).
So, why don't we turn our sights away from Carmelo for a minute and take a look at some other guys who are on the verge of finding themselves in new cities.
Here are 10 players, Carmelo Anthony not included, that are just about there.
Baron Davis
1 of 10
If I were an LA Clipper, I would want out too.
There have been rumors floating around for some time that Baron Davis could be getting looks from a couple teams, including the Charlotte Bobcats.
This one actually makes a bit of sense.
At 31, Baron Davis is one of the older guys on the Clippers' roster, and it would benefit them in the long run to grab a stop-gap type player and draft compensation that they could turn into a new, younger point guard.
Steve Nash
2 of 10
Now this is the one rumor floating around right now that seems completely ridiculous.
Steve Nash is the golden boy of the Phoenix Suns.
That having been said, the big trade with the Orlando Magic seems like it could be opening up the possibility.
If the Suns are willing to push that many players (and that many stars for that matter), there is always the possibility that Steve Nash could get caught up in that too. Remember, he isn't untouchable. He did play for Dallas from 1999 to 2004, after he spent the first two years of his career in Phoenix.
Hasheem Thabeet
3 of 10
There was a time where the Grizzlies were insisting that they would give their current line up until the All-Star break to find some sort of rhythm.
Well, now that they are staring down a losing record (with things fixing on getting worse and not better), they have opened up to the idea of reshaping their roster, and it seems like 7'3" center Hasheem Thabeet has just become available to the trade market as a part of that.
The second year player could be a good pick up for a team that is willing to give him some development time.
Jared Jeffries
4 of 10
(Quick aside: I know he's a Rocket right now, I just couldn't find a photo of him in that uniform).
With Jared Jeffries now finding himself on the inactive list on account of the return of Aaron Brooks, his position with the Rockets is uncertain.
He doesn't seem particularly interested in going anywhere, but the Rockets have other designs, and they could probably get a good amount of compensation for him.
Ramon Sessions
5 of 10
Ramon Sessions, the back up point guard for the Cleveland Cavaliers, has apparently come back on the radar of the New York Knicks, who took a good look at him two years ago.
As Cleveland tries to recover from the post-LeBron James Decision fallout, it wouldn't surprise me if they tried to move a couple players, Sessions included, for draft compensation in attempts to rebuild their team that just isn't the same without James.
Allen Iverson
6 of 10
Now this one I might just be throwing in here for some comedy.
Allen Iverson, the former NBA All-Star turned Turkish basketball player, is now apparently being sought after by none other than the Kings.
No, not those Kings.
A report from The Australian has it that the Sydney Kings are hot after the former 76er.
Sure, it could happen. After all, it doesn't look like Iverson's coming back to the NBA anyway.
Rip Hamilton
7 of 10
The Detroit Pistons may love Rip Hamilton, but it's starting to appear like that isn't a two way street.
In the wake of what many have deemed a fake injury, rumors have been flying around that it would be in the best interest of the Detroit Pistons to part ways with their captain.
Worse things could happen, but it seems logical. No matter how much the Pistons love Hamilton, if he doesn't want to play, he's not going to be at the top of his game, and he's going to want to be out the door at some point.
Andre Iguodala
8 of 10
This rumor has been around for a while, and it has started to die down as it appears more and more likely that the 76ers will keep Iguodala around, but there are still some teams out there who could, and should, be giving looks to him, like the Knicks.
Anderson Varejao
9 of 10
This is another one of those rumors that likely sprang out of the post-LeBron James Decision fallout in Cleveland, but this one seems like it could have a lot of validity to it.
There are teams out there willing to give up a good amount for the Brazilian power forward, like the New York Knicks or the Oklahoma City Thunder. He's a guy that could definitely see some movement soon.
Josh Childress
10 of 10
This one is more or less clear.
Childress, who is finding it hard to get off the bench in Phoenix, is officially being shopped by the Suns.
The question is, who will look at him?
Well, no teams have been included in initial reports, but he's young, and there are a few teams out there who might need depth at shooting guard that could easily make a move for him.
