NBA Trade Rumors: Baron Davis To the Charlotte Bobcats?
Yahoo! Sports has just recently reported that the Michael Jordan owned Charlotte Bobcats are considering trading for Los Angeles Clippers point guard Baron Davis.
They are considering this move just after parting ways with former coach Larry Brown. The Charlotte Bobcats came into the season with playoff aspirations but are so far two and a half games out of the playoffs in the East.
They have started off the season with a 9-19 record with several blowout losses already.
Apparently, the Bobcats don't think that they can make the playoffs with DJ Augustin as the starting point guard, which is why they are thinking of acquiring Davis.
Davis himself could use a change of scenery. He is stuck on a Los Angeles Clippers team which is rebuilding. That is not a good team for a veteran point guard to be on.
He has started this season off in horrible fashion. He is averaging just eight points on 36 percent shooting to go along with six assists. Not only that, but he is also shooting just 18 percent from downtown.
Davis might get a lift from being back in the town where he started his career with the Charlotte Hornets. Besides that, his old coach is also going to be coaching the team for the rest of the season.
The Bobcats are said to be offering Augustin, DeSagana Diop and Matt Carroll to the Clippers in exchange for Davis.
Davis has a huge contract so it will be interesting to see if the Bobcats can manage to pry away another good player from the Clippers to go along with him.
Overall, I see this move being beneficial for the Bobcats as Davis can help the team make the playoffs this season as long as he's motivated on a team with his former teammate, Stephen Jackson.
